maby, this should be posted in the mp3 section. I dunno, I got bored, so I play'd a cover (by no means my greatest piece, usually I play originals) I would just like a bit of fead back on this vid.

lol, u talking about meg? yeah she's by no means a great drummer (cute looks lhough...) I would ask my drummer to do some drumming but he was in school at the time.
 
Don't diss Meg. Most drummers couldn't play her style even if they wanted too. I classify her drumming as minimalist, not "bad." If a drummer that thinks he's good because he can play super fast complicated stuff tried to play like Meg, I think it would turn out fake-sounding. Then again, The White Stripes can pull off a lot of things most bands can't.

I don't get why Hardest Button To Button was chosen as one of their singles. I think it's cool but there are others on Elephant much better. I guess it was the most radio friendly. I pretty much have the entire song memorized by now after hearing it so much!
 
I chose this song becouse it was easy, and a bit more full sounding without drums than songs like "hello operator" and songs like "offend in evry-way, and "truth doesn't make a noise" (which is verry special to me) are a bit to soft for my tastes at the time I was recording this.

thanks for the review, and I totally agree with what you said about meg, I'ts actually quite cool how she can keep changing the pace according to jack, as if she can read his mind.
 
De Stijl is amazing. It amazes me every time I listen to it. If I had to rank from fav. to least fav, it would be

White Blood Cells
De Stijl
White Stripes
Elephant
Get Behind Me Satan

I love all of them though.

I've heard that they have already begun recording material for their next album too:)

sweet, some one who apreciates the stijl, it was the first legal album I've ever bought and to this day it is still my favorite (though white blood cells gets close though) I din't know the were comming out with an new album, I thought jack was fully didicated to the racontours (though I like the stripes better, more raw power without over kill of dist.)
 
Timing issues

Its cool that you still rock out even with no audience or stage. Fun, eh?

Anyway. the only real problem is the timing. youre skipping maybe half a beat at the end of each "bar".

Ex. (this is REALLY fast counting but its the simplest way to show what i mean)

D|-------|-------|--7----|-------|--10----| This is how it should be
A|-------|-------|----7--|-------|----10--| played. This is the best
E|-------|-------|5-----5|-------|-8----8-| I could do. Each note
__1 2 3 4 |1 2 3 4|1 2 3 4|1 2 3 4 |1 2 3 4 | gets a beat.

you are not holding on the 4 long enough. this is common in people without lessons or training or lots of practice in theory, timing, rhythm, etc. (sorry if i sound condescending, i really dont mean to)

youre rushing to play the next chord. so say youre on the fifth fret and play the pattern, youre going up to the 8th fret and playing to soon. trying counting 1234 on every single note and try to count the same during the parts with no playing.


i didnt do a very good job at explaining so i hope you sort of get my idea. i'll try to illustrate it better if you want or ill just shut up :)

Thanks Marshall, yes, rhythem has never exactly been my strong point (I'm a level 2 guitarist, but it's been a while since I took lessons... about 5-6 years actually)

it's common for me to shorten bars while I'm singing (and no drummer) becouse I'm more usto playing guitar than singing I focus more on singing than playing the guiatar, there fore I make mistakes like that.

EDIT: actually i think it's more like a 16th note short.. but no matter, I get you. I should tap my foot or something next time

and Z32 I would agree with you, but you should wach him live, he gives tremendous power, alot more than alot (all) pop artist, and even more than some metal artists, but indeed, some of his skills are blown a bit out of perportion. (thanks to rolling stone's magazine which has nirvana as one of the top 20 (if not 10) guitarists of all time.
 
hehe nah i don't think White Stripes is that bad really, they just really annoyed me when i had to hear them on the radio like 5 times a day with that stupid 7 Nation Army song. and that guys voice, man...it pisses me off! but the tunes are kinda cool, if not a little annoying to me.

I'm no singer and i really dont even have the right to scar the air with the sound of my voice but when i do, i cant play guitar for shit lol. cool singing btw!

wow, a complement on the singing. lol, my and is alway's complaining about my singing, but since I'm the only person they've got, there stuck with me :D

yeah I was reading in nme that he's pretty much 50/50 with the stripes and raconteurs.

I love both bands, but the stripes better. It's more minimalist and simple and raw. And even though it turned out pretty cool, I can't believe jack plays a synthesizer throughout broken boy soldier, seeing he's so against that kind of thing.

Elephant was the first album I ever bought! 14 bucks at bestbuy in 8th grade. White Blood Cells is what got me into rock.

It's weird, I started out hating De Stijl. Now its one of the greatest albums EVER!!!!

Jack is amazing live. I agree. Most powerful preformer I've ever seen.

He's #17 on the stones list. I can see that, but it's weird, he never plays to his full potential on any albums. You need to see him live to catch his amazing guitar talent.
