can anyone recommend me some other plug-in guitar plug-ins? i am looking for a plug-in were i can just run a guitar right in (with using a head of an amp) to pro-tools m-powered. i haven't found anything that seems to be able to sound good. i am using a standard behringer mixer. any suggestions to what is good? thanks!

Make sure you use a decent DI - you'd be surprised at how much difference that can make!

Amp Farm is pretty great. Not sure if they do it as RTAS. I've found Chrome Tone by McDSP to be pretty good too - in fact i just bought the studio project bundle from them (they're doing a special $200-off deal this month on it), I've had a play and it seems pretty good! Lots of presets to work from.

Out of what I've used, I think amplitube 2 can get some very usable sounds. I like my pod xt better. I really think modelers have their place, especially when you're short on time or budget, but nothing beats a real amp.

I have Amplitube 2 also, and it's pretty good if you tweak it. Not as good as a miced cab, but definitely usable

Space is another constraint. And for this reason I have tried a bunch of them. I have gotten usable sounds (this of course is subjective) from all the big ones. Rock Amp Legends, Amplitube2, Guitar Rig by Native Instruments and GTR3 by Waves all have some good believable sounds. Rock Amp Legends (RAL) can be had for pretty cheap. The others can be a bit pricey but I have found they are worth it when you consider the cost of tube amps and microphones. I am sure it is cool to have a whole bunch of real tube amps laying around but these simulations get you pretty close and you don't have to drag the amps out, change tubes or have them serviced. Plus you can change the tone on the fly. Once you have recorded your track you may find the tone doesn't fit the tune. No problem, one click of the mouse and the sound is changed. Can't do that with a tube amp. I have not found any free plugins to peak my interest. If I am missing one let me know.

thanks guys!!, these suggestions are awsome, i looked up some vidz on youtube for the ampli 2, seems like a good program, i am going to try to get that one.

EDIT: Okay i got the program and i have been messin around on it for a while now, and everything is sounding great. There's just one thing, there is a delay somewere, there are no effects on or nothing there's liek a milisecond delay that i have no idea how to get rid of, so here;s my setup:

out of guitar and into the mixer(not goign into the crate amp at all), then out of the mixer and into my m-audio card witch is in a PCI slot in my computer.
any idea's to y a delay? i am hoping its not a hardware prob... lol
