would a compressor be much use?
why exactly?I'd go with a Flanger and Delay first rather than a Chorus. Then maybe a Phase Shifter or Univibe.

oh I do understand you after watching demos and stuff, but a problem with that is that I don't have enough money to get two good flanger and delay pedals, so I might be better off geting a good chorus pedal for now, and then as my collection builds I can add them to itBecause a flanger and delay can produce a wider array of spacial sounds than a chorus. Also a chorus doesn't work as well with distorted tones as it tends to get muddy.
The compressors in guitar pedal format are good if you want a long sustain on held notes. Not to be confused with compressors used for mixing and mastering.
I really think you're going about this the wrong way.
Pedals are super personal as to what you like and want.
For example ...... I like chorus and have no use for a flanger (I'm talking live use here .... I might use ANYthing in the studio.)
I like the Uni-vibe thing a lot (my fav rite now would be the VooDoo Labs Micro-Vibe) and I like delays but usually don't bother to have one on my board.
A clean boost is a must for me and I loath compressors. Yeah they sustain but so what? I get all the sustain I need with my amp and guitar and I hate the way comps screw with the attack.
You see my point?
There's a lot of knowledgable people in this thread and they all have their own preferences for pedals they gotta have and many times what one person wants is useless to another.
You need to spend a few nights going around the net and:
listen to soundclips and youtube demos to get an idea of what these things sound like to you and:
go look up what effects are being used on some of your favorite songs by your favorite artists.
Otherwise with you just getting into this, I fear you're gonna buy things you decide later you didn't want.
ooooo I had no idea about that. do they actually work well then? because if they do then that might be a possibility because i do like good sustain
ProCo Rat!
Ah I see thanks a lot guysI will ask on here before I buy just in case I happen to be about to buy a pedal that is well known to break easily or something
Dude said he doesn't need overdrive/distortion. He actually doesn't know what he needs. Maybe a link to the pedal page at Musician's Friend is the correct answer.![]()
you haven't ever been much of a pedal guy that I remember.Lol. I know, it was a joke. I hate the Rat. I have one of the "good" ones, and it's poo.
