<< thanks so much for your really encouraging tripe....yada yada>>

only joking Dude ;)

you have some cool amps. that's nice. I am interested in the weird thing you built yourself.

When I was in High School, I had a HeathKit amp. I bought it from a friend. it was a nice amp. Really....at that time I had a ton of stuff. Ampeg V-4
an Acoustic 130 or something like that, super reverbs,

Anyway, the homebuilt amp was a tube amp and it sounded great. I honestly don't remember what happened to it.

Currently I have a Randall head which I play thru a floor monitor with a really old Gauss 12" /no horn

AND a 65 Deluxe Reverb which is not allowed out of the house.

Running a Randall ProTube 2000 Head/100 Watts All Tube through a Randall straight cab w/Vintage 30's and another old Peavey straight cab w/Celestion 35's/no FX/Plugged Straight In/This amp has been my 1 and ONLY since I bought it Brand New in 1992

I've just started playing again, after really not touching my guitar for about 10 years ... wandered into GuitarCenter and walked out with a Roland Microcube ... what an incredible little amp for having a 5" speaker and 2W of power ...

OK, it's not the Carvin 100W half stack I had a decade ago, but for $125, playing in the basement and doing a little recording ... really incredible sounds.

Peavey XXX -Svetlana 6L6's and JJTesla 12AX7's
Hiwatt 4X12 -Loaded with Celestions

I have a rivera TBR2-SL. My favorite amp I have ever played. It does about any sound you want except for that ultra high gain Dual Rectifier sound, but I can get close adding a bit of gain from a pedal.

Fender Princeton Chorus (red knob) - nice clean, but it's buzzy!
Peavey rage 158 - nice little amp. friend left it here a long time ago...
Bandmaster Reverb cabinet circa 1970's - can't find a good deal on a head
Peavey Mark IV bass amp with a heavyass cab. Sounds suprisingly nice with guitar.

I've been craving a Fender Hot Rod Deville.
Every time I play it, it's all I think about...

Trace Elliot

Trace Elliot G-RP3 preamp-based, 80w single Celestion 12" combo.

The preamp has 3 footswitchable channels and footswitchable FX loop in/out (the pedal board for these functions stores in the back of the combo for easy transporting). Stereo DI outs (with switchable cabinet emulation) to PA if necessary, and/or connect to a 4 by 12" cab - plenty of volume.

The power amp section features an output transformer topology which gives it that slight 'give' typical of a tube amp. CHANNEL 1 stays clean to deafening levels, but posesses a nice vintage warmth about it.

CHANNEL 2's gain can be controlled by an optional expression pedal, which simply bypasses the gain knob on the front panel, and increases overdrive while maintaining overall volume level, all with the foot, which is unusual and very usuable.

CHANNEL 3 produces a big fat, grain-free overdrive, and a pull-switch gives you instant heavy-metal scoop and tight bass (which I don't use myself). All channels' knobs feature pull-switch action for a variety of gain and EQ options.

All three channels, once set are then volume-balanced by a three slider mixing section, with 2 additional sliders for dry/ext FX volume.

It even has a built in tuner (one less item to plug in on stage and screw with your tone), and the front panel lights up in Trace Elliot green, no less, for easy viewing on a dark stage, and.....well, I think looks pretty cool anyway.

Nope, it's not satin black, powered by a quad of EL34s and weighs a ton. It's beautifully practical and cuts the sonic mustard. It's also very rare - information on the thing non-existent. If you find one on the used market though, do yourself a favour and try it out.

I've spoken to the designer of this thing, Clive Button, who tells me that I must be the only other one of two guitarists in the world that raved about the thing when it came out (in the early '90s). The other guy was Jan Akkerman, of Focus.

Mr. Button thought it was brilliant design (albeit a little proud pappy biased!), which proved yet again that while bassists are always open to innovation, guitarists tend to shy away.
