I bought (and since sold) a Transtube Supreme Half-Stack. OK I guess. It can't run with either My JCM-800 or my Mesa Triple-Rectifier (The BEST!!!). I absolutely love the VOX Tonelab SE. Since getting it, my amps are gathering dust, between shows.

Once you've used one, you'll never use anything else.

I don't know...I played Boogies for 10+ years. Switched to Koch for 2 years and am now using Fuchs amps. For ME it just doesn't get any better!

Line 6

I own a line 6 flextone III 212 combo and shortboard, and a Line 6 Vetta II 212 combo (that i just got) and will be buying the longboard for next week.

Line 6 was not offered in the poll.......

Only other thing Ive owned is a fender 10 or 20 watt practice amp. I like the line 6 better when listening to them all side by side...... :D

Im not downing the creator of this poll, but there is more than one answer for this question. Vox is great for clean, and some overdrive. The Marshall is great for good crunch, sal's are good for clean crisp... so.... no answer.

My personal preference is Tech 21. The amps are well priced, and deliver a great tone. Some of them can imitate almost every overdrive sound.

My crate sucks i dont know why i voted for it.

well the distortion is gives is great but i can be on another continent and it will give off terrible feedback.

i dont know if you have ever checked out rivera but i've loved my chubster since the day i bought it off ebay. el-84 tubes, hand made.....channel one gives you british while channel two is more american like. i play black crowes like stuff and with my les paul or tele running though it, i'm in heaven. i have a weber blue dog speaker along with svetlana tubes. i couldn't be happier (that it, unless you add my fulltone '69 pedal).

I agree Crate Sucks!!!
Ive had a few differant Amps over many years including several named in the poll.
I currently have an Award winning Line 6 that i can make sound almost like every other amp i have ever owned.

Great Sound, bulletproof and Versatility make The Line 6 products a very good choice for my particular needs.

I have a crate twin hybrid that basically sucks but it does take up space :D

Tone is in your fingers

I haven't played all the amps listed here but I sound pretty much the same on any amp (suk) tone is in your fingers. I have had good results recording with crate, fender, and roland.

reading through this thread agian, I think it's time I picked up a new amp. I've been playing the same two amps for ever.

I'm gonna find out if Marshall ever rereleased any decent early master volumes.

My fave setup at the moment is 2 JC120s running stereo using a Vox Tonelab SE for my effects. Incredible sound and flippin LOUD!

I use the first generation of 5150 with a Marshall 1960 cab .Its so fucking good for metal! (with a tube screamer or overdrive in front of it)

Got Boogie Mark III, had it since 1988. Jcm 100, Dsl 100. Peavey classic 30. Fender Twin. They all sound good and all have proven very reliable. The best part is that each has its own voice. Oh forgot fender champ 12. However if I had to pick just one, it would be the Marshall DSL.

Plexi is the way to go!!
Not a stock plexi of course. Why not have the complete extremes across the history of guitar tone? Lets get everything from Hendrix and Zeppelin tone to the heaviest bone crushing high gain but still maintaining the sound of the strings on your guitar! Splawn guitars is the way to go, they blow me and any stock amp ive ever heard away. Over many years of trying to find that perfect guitar tone, I am totally convinced that modified amplifiers are the way to go.

Here's links to some sound clips to Splawn modified amplifiers.
For the second link, just scroll down and you'll see the pics to click on to download clips for the Splawn "Pro Mod" (Marshall)

Is it the vetta? I'm not too familiar with line 6. However, I used to have a spider II when they first came out and it blew up the 1st day I brought it home... no.. really, it made a giant pop sound, flashed bright blue light quickly, and then smelt like melted PC board. :p

Fender "The Twin" about 1984 from memory also Jansen Little Ripper fed from Twin thru DI box. sounds like 2 twins on stage.
Best ever amp, Selmer Selector Tone twin, many years ago.

i just discovered him about 2 years ago his shop is about 30 mins away, last time i was there he was showing a guy the differences between his and stock, he was ripping some VH, this amp is amazing he could clean it up with just a lil bump to the guitars volume then right back into EVH brownsville ...i was blown away

My favorite is the 50w 1987XL with KT88's :D I'm telling ya, it is the ultimate high gain tone.

For my 1987 mkII (reissue). I'm getting the..

Splawn Standard Mod with 2 button footswitch
Mercury Magnetic-Splawn transformer upgrade
KT88 tube upgrade
Clean Channel Upgrade

I second the Tech21 amps. From the poll I would choose both Marshall and Fender, but I can't.
