Well,
How would something not be as advertised if they haven't been made or shipped?
Also, the descriptions as pretty spare, not filled with flowerey prose, so
how could one be led astray there?
Was someone not clear on the clear on the wait time?
Or do you really think this was deliberate?

At the beginning of this thread Chance explained Paypals' reasons as (I presume) they had explained them at the time, however, this new communication seems to give a different or contradictory reason for their actions.

Thanks!
Unluckyly my local bank is in real trouble with their
new computer system at the same time, so this might take some
time...

Best

Matti

Subject: Notification of Limited Account Access

Dear Chance Pataki,

As part of our security measures, we regularly screen activity in the PayPal system. During a recent screening, we noticed an issue regarding your account.

We are very sorry, but in accordance with the PayPal User Agreement, we are no longer able to have you as a customer.

We have had to close your account for the following reason:

We have received complaints from at least one buyer who indicated that either they purchased merchandise from you and never received it or that an item they received was significantly not as described.

We apologize for any inconvenience this account closure may cause. You may still log in to PayPal to view your transactions history and personal information for a limited time.

The funds in your account will be held for 180 days, due to the risk of outstanding chargebacks and complaints. After 180 days, any remaining funds will be available to you for withdrawal.
For your protection, we have limited access to your account until additional security measures can be completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

To review your account and some or all of the information that PayPal used to make its decision to limit your account access, please visit the Resolution Center. If, after reviewing your account information, you seek further clarification regarding your account access, please contact PayPal by visiting the Help Center and clicking "Contact Us".

We thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Please understand that this is a security measure intended to help protect you and your account. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Sincerely,
PayPal Account Review Department

There was only one complaint and that one person is FULLY responsible for all this trouble.

There's obviously more at play here than just one complaint. Whether Paypal ever discloses what that is, is another story. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark!

Chance, I think at this point, it might be a good idea for you to send an email to all the people who paid you and should've gotten a refund to find out who still hasn't gotten their money back. I know there are at least two people who haven't. After you have a complete list, then you can send that to Paypal and ask them to look into why those refunds haven't been issued.

I'm pretty pissed that they cancelled your account and put a hold on your money. The letter I eventually write won't be quite as 'thankful' as it might've been had I written it a couple of days ago.

:D

Evidentally, my local county don't... Still not heard a word from them... :(

Don't git yerself all werked up. Shoot, mebe the guy who sposed ter call ya is off t'day.

(I just picked up the Rosetta Stone language cds for North Carolinian... I figure I'd better bone up on the language before I retire and move down there ;))

Funny how nobody ever moves north to retire :D

Yes--don't worry about that at all. I work for the county library system here, and some things can take weeks to process. The hiring process itself, after the interviews, can take a while. Take heart!

My question still remains unanswered; how (and when, and where) do we send the money to Chance for the preamps?

Hey Harvey. We're waiting for the payment system to be put in place. It will be announced soon.

Pissed, yeah. Surprised, no. PayPal/eBay behaves like a bunch of thugs. After the way they've treated Chance on this buy, I don't think I can ever trust PayPal again to represent my interests as a seller. I'd have better odds accepting bank checks without waiting for them to clear.

Spread the word: boycott PayBay. Tell all your friends. Tell them to tell their friends.

I can tell you this: The next time I list stuff for sale, it will be on Craigslist, and eBay/Paypal can go f*ck themselves. The thought has also crossed my mind that we should start a competing website to give eBay and PayPal a run for their money....

According to pay pal there was only one complaint and I had to answer to it and authorize the resolve to it. As far as writing another letter. Thank you, but don't worry about it. You already went above and beyond and got us fast results, and words can not express this enough. We have all learned from this and theres no need to prolong the misery.
