Its not a matter of believing what we want

Either chance designed [retro fitted, whatever you know what i mean] it or he didn't.

Maybe all will be revealed in the mass email. Certainly seems a reasonable question.

The mass email is out. Read it and you should be able to calm down...

In the meantime look two posts above and follow qiktune's attitude! That's what I'm doing.

Jeez, I don't watch the thread for a few days and all hell breaks loose.

For the record, I believe Alan was trying to help. I ain't canceling my order; that's for sure. And I'm damn glad 797 is building these things - they do pretty good work. Alan was warning Chance about dealing with the Chinese. They will tell you one thing and do another. If they already have similar units in stock, they will substitute if they can, and apologize for the "misunderstanding".

For everybody else, take a chill pill. Even if they're all 797 design, it don't matter; it's still gonna be a hell of a deal. And no less of a deal just because Alan pointed out some real possibilities of what might happen.

Alan, thank you for the heads up warning, and thank you, Chance, for making these great deals available.

the capsules might be great

A well-known mic modder told me last week that the K67 capsule made by this particular vendor is truly a great piece of hardware.

This doesn't apply to ribbon mics, of course, but for those of us waiting on condenser mics, the recent revelations on the source of the gear are, as Mr. Gerst suggests, welcome.

As far as the rest of this dialog goes, all I can add is: are they here yet? ARE THEY HERE YET?!

I'm truly curious what the Chinese think of all of this. Surely they must be aware to some degree what a "group buy" entails and how it's put together, the speculation that runs rampant, suspicions, subtrafuge, business sabatoge from importers of their stuff, mis-information, etc. Or are they happily oblivious, toying away, manufacturing audio goodies? I'd love to be a chinese speaking fly on the wall of their office tomorrow.....

Alan wasn't warning Chance about anything. He was accusing Chance of dishonesty, and indirectly suggesting the preamps weren't that great.

You on the other hand, can be taken at face value.

Okay this is off topic (sort of). But let's all have a calming kumbaya (sp?) moment and share the love. Specifically to Chance & Randy (Zetajazz44).

They probably don't care about the green chiclets (rep points) but folks around here give 'em out for far less than what they're doing for us. So how about everyone takes a second and hits the two of them up with some positive rep. (I just did & noticed their totals are way too low...)

FYI:

Another member of this board just pointed out to me that it might be a good idea to limit the User Console login only to those who actually paid... This is a good idea... I had originally planned to do this after payment had ended but I got swamped with other stuff and forgot...

I have just added this piece to the login page for the User Console, that will only allow you to login, 1. if you have registered. 2. if you are marked as paid for you products.

I have tested this since I modified the code and it seems to be working fine, but that being said, if you have paid, and experience that you cannot log into the User Console now, please PM or email me and let me know and make sure it gets fixed...

Thanks in advance,

Randy

PS: Just for the record: I wasn't present when this group buy was established... I came along later and offered to help Chance manage it with software, as opposed to email as he'd been doing it before, since I seen that he was struggling a bit with it and I had some extra time that I could donate to him. I can't speak for any of the designs of the products, orgins of their designs...etc., I've never even discussed this with Chance, I'm only involved from a software perspective to manage the GB...

I'm just pretty sure though, that at the price that we bought these preamps, we'll all be happy that we paid what we did for them...especially if within a short time, other audio companies start offering the same product for several times what we paid for ours... We've seen it happen in the past with the mics, why not the preamps...? Shoot, I've got more $$$ in my racked PM1000 than I do in one of these ACMP's...

When I saw "797", I thought to myself, "Bingo!"
When I saw $160/1000, I thought to myself, "Jackpot!"
When I saw "CL", I thought to myself, "where the Pearly's gate?"

:D

Actually, it all makes sense now.
In truth, Alan only came here to warn everyone that his good friend John Ma is a dishonest, duplicitous weasel?
My bad..thanks Alan.

These are the three units you all will be able to buy from Chance along with an LA2A clone(no photo)...I met with them all today and will say that it may end up anodized...by I do not suggest that as it wears off way faster than paint, but it is Chances baby....Not to drive it home, they all said this is 100% designed by 797 audio... So here is what you will all get in a different color and Chances name...

I will not post again on this matter and for those people who think I am truthful and want to ask me questions, send me a private message so I can stay away from those that think I have a motive... As you will see, 797 Audio changed our design on our VTB1 and put out a kind of clone, but this is just what they do....As I said, just know where they come from and who designed them...not that it matters, but in the end, you all deserve to be told the truth, even if you bag on me for telling you....

So after all that bullshit, all he shows us are pictures of the outside. We've known all along that the outward appearance wasn't designed to be original to this GB. The unit was retrofitted into a pre-existing housing. Without pictures of the guts, he isn't "proving" anything.

As far as I'm concerned, he remains a twat.
