Well today is the start of the payment process. We have ten days.

On another note, Randy mastered the second song with the same expertise as the first, and if he wants to post it, it gives an excellent example of the ACM-2 on guitars and the powered ribbon mic smoothing out a VERY thin female vox.

Which powered ribbon did you use?

My user console payment button is not active.

Yes, I've not made them active yet... At the moment, I'm away from my personal PC. Should be back home in a few hours, at which time I'll make them active... I'd rather be at my machine where I have the code should something break when payment starts...

Payment will start today, but it might be a few hours up into the day, when I return home.

Thanks!

Randy

CHANCE'S RECORDINGS:

As I said, I'm not at home right now and don't have access to my files, but I uploaded these yesterday. I never uploaded full versions of the original files, but I did upload A/B clips of one of the songs yesterday...

Track 02 Full Song:

I might add that on track 2, I used the ACM-2 for all the guitars and on the guitar solo I intentionally used one that had "ribbon sag" Drums were real miced with ACM's enhanced with samples.

Maybe someone can help me out with this.....

I was originally planning on a pair of 73s over the 81s because I wanted a pair of DIs for tracking stereo keyboards (I have a single DI that I like for bass already). But I just realized that the line inputs on all the pres going through the input transformers just like the DI, so I could track keyboards going in line-in on the 81s.

So my question is this, if the only difference between the pres is the EQ (and DI and meter) would I be missing any magic by tracking keyboards going in line-in on an 81 instead of through the DI on the 73?? I realize it's technically possible, I'm just wondering if I'll be missing anything 'special' cause I'd rather have the better EQ in the 81 if the DI on the 73 won't make a difference (like I said, for bass I have a single DI that I like.... I'd be using the pre's for keyboards).

Thanks

What is the source of hum and noise on Track 1? I thought Randy did a good job of killing the hum, but it would be OK with me to be more aggressive with the noise, the track is plenty bright at 4kHz and could take it. On the other hand, best attacked at the source.

You might want to watch the stereo width in version B, if mono is an issue.

Yes, there was a really bad hum on track 1... It was pretty wide in the 125 range, and a hiss at the 8.1Khz range... I took as much out as I felt comfortable with without "damaging" the overall sound... I believe this noise was from the acousic guitar...at least best that I could tell...

Something else I might add and not wanting to sound like I am passing the buck but I was at the mercy of the producer while mixing. I mentioned this to Randy and I would have mixed it much differently. Especially the samples over real drums. I can't stand that "machine gun" sound on the snare. I would have more of the actual drum sound. The hum was indeed in the AC guitar. The producer wanted to capture the spirit of the moment and had a lessor interest in things like hum and noise unfortunately.

Clarification.

Just wanted to say again, that it is Friday, and payments will begin today... Currently, it is morning here, and I'm away from my personal PC doing networking for a local office. I didn't want to open up payments until I can be sitting in front of my personal PC where the code to the payment pages are in-case there is any troubles...

As soon as I'm done here and get back home, I'll open up payments and sent out a mass email stating that they are open... Might be a few hours though...

Thanks in advance,

Randy

So what gear did you use?

Ouch. I figured it was the talent insisting on the guitar direct, and probably the keys too. I feel for you . . . :o

I usually try to keep perspective and remember that some of the most memorable songs ever recorded that still are played today, were recorded long before all the low noise, automation, and "corrective" tools many rely on today. It really WAS about the music and artist. While it's great to have pristine recordings like we do today, no-one wants to listen too a great recording of a bad performance, but people will still listen to a poor recording of a great performance.

What a great reminder of what our priorities should be in this pursuit we've chosen...

The line input doesn't have the same gain range as the mic/DI in-- which makes it impossible to drive them hard. So, for synths I run them into a Radial DI>Chameleon Labs 7602 MIC IN-- you'll want that extra gain, as these should also sound great and thick when overdriven a bit.

Would it be a safe assumption that these will be "very close" to the CL stuff?
