i'm interested in trying out a ribbon, but don't know which one to go with between the ACM-2 or ACM-1. probably would be used mostly for vocals, and occasionally for guitar amp. what might make a better first ribbon mic? could a ribbon possibly be used as a drum room mic?

i think the ACM-3 is more geared for guitar right? i'm looking for one that's more suited for vocal use above anything, just to have another tool in the box. will be getting a ACM-582 also. :D

Zed, fwiw, I own mics similar to the acm-1 and acm-2 and compared them: here. Both are very usable first ribbons. I prefer the slightly darker sound of my acm-1-type mic for vocals and drums, but it also has more proximity effect. My acm-2-type mic is smaller, lighter, and easier to place. It sounds pretty good on most things, but not quite as "rich" as the other.

Hey guys. I'm back and will ask for the schematics of these mics. That will help everyone that might be interested in doing mods

thanks chance, definitely interested in modding the 6802.

Perhaps a "peluso" and a "Cinimag" or "Lundahl" ? LOL.
Like minds think alike. LOL

yeah i have three mics (oddly  :) )similar mics already modded with pelusos capsules and cinemag or peluso transformers-- they are awesome mics after the transformation!

Other than Michael Joly who can put a Lundalh in the ACM2 is there anyone you can recomend to mod the 6802 (I think that's the tube mic number)

They would probably need to see the schematic to give an answer without actually seeing the mic

I was just briefly looking at the orders and I see that some have 2 orders. (same E-dress). The process I am using is automatic. In other words Pay Pal will use the E-dress and calculate your order, then send a "request for funds". I didn't anticipate an order this large, but thats OK. I won't be able to pick them up from the port of LA in my PU truck, I will have to have them delivered. It's no problem tho.

Chance, I did an order with you in the first group buy also, using the same email address. Please make sure that any duplicates are not from the first group buy, which would be dated in 2006, not 2007. :)

chance,
as i mentioned a few pages back, i sent you a first email with the subject line "MICROPHONES" but then needed to change my order and sent a follow up "MICROPHONES CHANGE OF ORDER"
is there anything i can do or that you could please do to make sure that the second one is the one i get billed for?
i'm sorry for the inconvenience.
thanks very much

OK gang, let the fun begin
For those that don't know the drill, heres how it works. you send me an E-mail. In the subject header put "MICROPHONES" in all caps. Then in the message area, state what you want. I will use those E-dresses for the Pay pal money requests (ONLY ONE E-DRESS PLEASE). cut off date is May 6. Its important to put "MICROPHONES" in the subject header so it will be easier to file to a seperate folder plus I can, at a glance, weed out all the Viagra, work at home, and all the other trash you are all familiar with. Pay pal has a small fee, but I will cover it for now and add when I pack and ship to you. I'm getting TONS of E-mail questions and can't possibily answer them all, so post here, theres a good chance some one will have the answer

What will the shipping on these be once they're in the US? From the wording of the email, there will be an extra cost once the microphones get here. I don't want to committ to buying 8 to 10 mics before I know what the shipping will be! ;)

I have no way of knowing the answer to that question. If I ship just accross town it will be a lot less than if I have to ship to another country. It depends on the size/weight and distance. Perhaps someone from the last group buy can answer that question.

Then don't, this guy is going way out of his way to give us an opportunity. If you don't want it, don't take it.
But don't make it any harder for Chance.

I didn't hear any stories of Chance having raped anybody on shipping on the last group buy. I trust he will be fair about it. How much can it cost to send a few mics across the country? $25 maybe $50?

If you can afford to buy 8 or 10 mics in one shot then the shipping shouldn't be the deal stopper.

If these mics perform even half decent, then you have already saved more than that by not buying them retail. I am willing to take that gamble.

I believe the shipping cost was on the shipping label the last time. I'm not certain on that tho.

amen to that. if ONE of them is awesome, it will be worth it.
