Allan, What I wanna know is.... why didn't Studio Projects go through with that product? I think it would have been a big seller, judging solely from that mockup. Weren't people waiting for either the 8 channel version of the budget mic pre, or a more high-end pre from Studio Projects?
And by the way, I own a Joemeek Twin-Q (new version), which I assume at this point was made by 797. If that's the case, I am confident in the TnC pres being of good quality. I am impressed by the workmanship and sound on the TwinQ, and am more than happy with that purchase.
Of interest, I just did a corporate audio gig at a conference for security and encryption professionals with a lot of government agencies present. A large portion of the conference was talking about the massive amount of industrial espionage and intellectual property theft in manufacturing that goes on in China, and how the Chinese government doesn't case because it only makes the U.S. more dependent on China economically. For a second, I kinda felt bad about possibly supporting that, if in fact this design was ripped off from CL. Then I though, "Fuck it." The price I paid for my one preamp will probably pay some worker's salary for a month, so I look at it as charity.
