Okay, that was definitive and mistaken, but let's go through all Chance's posts on the subject:

Here's the one where Hyatt says Chance said the transformers were from the US. Plain to see, he was speculating.
#4472 "I gotta hunch that these are from the USA. Nothing to confirm that, just a hunch."

At this point, he realizes that he was mistaken about the transformers not being from China and he corrects the information he gave earlier. Clearly no deceit was intended, otherwise why post the correction?
#4555 "I mentioned that "the xfrmrs are not made in China" I might be wrong. They mentioned that "they do not make the xfrmrs and out source them" and I assumed that ment that they imported them."

So I'll ask you again, how is Hyatt justified in calling Chance a liar?

Had he made all those posts and characterized Chance as possibly being mistaken or misled by 797, I'd have had no issue with him. But he didn't do that. He repeatedly called him a liar.

How is he justified in doing that?

As the designer of a product, you must specify to the manufacturer all the component parts, pots, values of components, brands used for the pots, transformers, power supply, switches, control knobs etc...

How can someone who did the spec or the design not know this? So I think you bring a valid point. Was Chance mistaken..misleading...intentionally, or not intentional.

Marcadiablo is correct, it is out of control again, but can you answer how the person who specs or designs this does not know much about the product they designed and are selling? How do they not have picture of them? You can't say China made changes in his spec or design because if you get a sample you would see the change and make sure that China builds it to the spec. You would then have a unit to take pictures and post it to all the people who bought it.

That is why we get samples to be sure nothing about the spec and design has been changed, but we know what we designed, so if you ask me what transformers I use in my products, I can tell you. If you want to know the pot supplier, I can tell you.

Can Chance tell you? At the end of the day, Chance will not stop any GB. It is is his best interest to keep it going. He is by his admission building a brand called TNC. Now while I have my opinion about these products design origin, this is how many people get into the business, so Chance is not going to stop GB, and if he does, someone right behind him will step in and do it...It will not be me, but it will be someone.

So if you have a big issue about my calling Chance a liar, then I will apologize. Maybe there is a more politically correct name to call it. Maybe I should have said Chance is speaking non truths.... If you have a better word, let me know.

What still holds true is that you all got a great deal on a product. It really does not matter who designed it. Some will find it the best thing since sliced bread, and others will not like it. As you say, you will make make money on EBay by selling as many as you can, and maybe you will be the next GB guy...who knows....

Just when you sell a product in a public forum, tell the truth about it. Don't take credit for other peoples work....

Kind of a one sided jury! Convinced the truth is the truth without knowing the other side. I know in one of your posts you wanted to as you said put your foot up my ass. You are in California, my address is public...if you need it I will be happy to give it to you.

You should come by and let me tell you and show you the other side. If you still feel that you want to put your foot up my ass after what I show you, then hell...I will bend over.

I dont want to turn any of this shit on me because I think that Chance was mis-lead by 797, and Alan brought this to light....plain and simple... Maybe Alan could have been a tad more subtle about it, but it is what it is and personally Im getting to the point where im just sick of hearing about it.....

Agreed Alan. I think there's some semantics going on here. I know you probably deliver CAD drawings and a list of components you want your manufacturers to use for your products. That's true designing, no doubt. Did Chance do that? No, I don't think so - HE"S NOT A MANUFACTURER/DESIGN firm. But I believe that he did spec certain things he wanted. I can't crawl into everyone's brain and get the facts, but I believe that Chance did what he said he did. I tend to believe that you did what you said you did as well, but I do not understand your motives in coming here.

Most certainly. But you did not quote my entire sentence did you. I said "AS IT HAS UNFOLDED TO HIM". In other words. I believe Chance told the truth as HE SEES it. If the bank hands you a counterfit bill and you go to use it at a store and get busted, are you breaking the law??? No. And by the same logic, Chance is telling the truth. It is the Chinese who are playing loose here.

Are you sure? I think you have me mistaken for someone else. There were so many. Could you quote me there or point me to the post. I don't recall ever saying that. I recall thinking something worse, but "foot up the ass" isn't my style. Please quote me or refrain. Thx.

I hear what you're saying but I don't understand why Hyatt is allowed to throw accusations out there and not catch grief for it, while I catch shit for defending the guy who did us all a favor. Perhaps if a few other people speak up, I won't feel compelled to say so much.

I am SO confident in Chance that I don't need to say anything in his defense. The PRODUCT will speak for itself.

If Chance is incorrect, I know that he wouldn't purposefully lie. That's just not him. It's not hard to be incorrect if the info you've been given is false.

I do think it wasn't nice of Alan to say Chance is a liar without first consulting Chance. But at the same time Alan has provided very insightful information. Alan is a bit brash sometimes, I have no problem dealing with it. I also thing Alan is a genuine guy, he mishandled his first posts and now has to handle any fallout.

Also, I think a there were quite a few that spoke out against Alan't first posts. Now I think most of those people are "over" it. There is nothing that can be done but wait. If Alan posts something new that is offensive, call him out. To keep bickering over the same stuff is a waste of energy IMO.

First off, I regrettably could not participate in this GB.(my car demanded my GB money and is now known as the anti-studio) I have been keeping up with this thread because I am still interested in the products and hope to purchase from some one in the GB later on.
Any way I have lurked in this forum and grown to love the people who make this a great community to hang out in. There is a cool vibe around here and I enjoy reading threads that will never apply to me just to see how cool people can be.
Things in this thread have been slowly taking a bad turn and today it has gotten really out of hand. I have read today's posts and now have that ugly feeling inside that you get after watching FACES OF DEATH.
I think this is all a big misunderstanding. Chance never said that he designed this, he said his tech did. Isn't it possible that Chance is not as well informed on this as AH on account he is not as technical as AH? AH is suggesting that Chance may not be on the level because if they worked with him the same way they work with AH he would know these things. But it seems to me that it is entirely probable that they would work with a GB differently than SP. I don't think a GB would get the same photshoped mock up that SP would.
I hope that the same vibe that made this community attractive to me will return and that this will all just blow over. I love you guys.

Where is the love? We need to let peace rule and give love a chance (and give chance some more love and especially some more peace ) -- I even love 797, since they've never done anything to me, and the only reason I have to be suspicious is a couple of aspersion-casting posts in a forum on the internet. By all reports, they're proceeding in a more timely way than the manufacture did in the last GB, and so I'm happy, and ready to become a big fan of theirs.

I'm still waiting excitedly, and I really don't want to hear anything speculative. If John Ma wants to post about what they've actually done so far, I'll be reading intently. I'll also pay close attention to any communication between them and Chance as reported back here by Chance. Other than that, as much as I respect the experience, opinions, and observations of the many folks with a better perspective and better info than me (certainly including AH), I think I'd rather just wait for the units.

OTHERWISE - the ONLY info I'm really interested is updates from Chance so that I can salvate more in anticipation of the ridiculous killer deal I'm getting on what will likely be some decent preamps. Why am I getting this killer deal? Because Chance isn't in the gear manufacturing biz and in addition to not doing things like delivering CAD drawings and parts lists and all kinds of stuff like someone in the biz would do (like Alan) he ALSO isn't MARKING THE PRICE UP.

I thought I would stray OT and share something totally unrelated but very refreshing
I am reading "Mixing with your mind", and a while back someone posted this video "How to listen to music with your whole body with Evelyn Glennie". This chick is deaf and will blow your mind. It's a half hour long, but very refreshing. If you have 30 minutes watch the whole piece. She plays a selection on the Marimba that I can't concieve how anyone who is deaf can play with such dynamics.

I did a live recording with her and the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra several years ago. Simply amazing performer. I had the honor of talking with her for a decent amount of time after her performance and you would never know she was deaf. She can read lips with amazing accuracy and she was a lot of fun to chat with.

Funny story that makes this a recording I will never forget. She walked out on stage and started her performance with a theremin, and while she thought she turned it off....there was a nice 1kHz tone through the entire performance.
