any good? i have some money to toss at a new mic. something not cheap and something that ships to canada online lol. i saw the GT-60 Tube mic on musicians friend and i was wondering what you guys thought of it, i cant find any in depth reviews on it.

on another note. should i save for a couple months and buy the Neumann SKM184 Stereo Microphone Pair instead? that's all i need to upgrade right now, are my vocal mic and my over heads. so.. $600 GT vocal mic or matched pair of Neumann's for around 2 grand????

I dont know what you are recording...but I wouldnt reccommend the GT...Im not sure of the quality since the alesis buyout...Id pass on it...the fact it isnt wowing anyone or it isnt on equipment lists for studios should be equal to a bad review.

Run away fast from anything owned by Alesis......

Haven't all the recent GT mics been bog standard Chinese mics anyway? If so, then I'm not sure the Alesis buyout would make them any worse.... :)

Alesis hasn't had anything to do with GT in a long time. They first acquired the electronics division of GT back in 1998 or so and produced the AM line of mics. Some like the AM-40 (later the GT-44) were pretty decent. Some were so-so. At the time, they were one of the better quality Chinese manufactured mics available. GT parted ways with Alesis several years later, reacquired their electronics business, and in 2002 hooked up with M-Audio for distribution. Last year, GT was acquired by Fender Musical Instruments.
