Shure 520DX Green Bullet Mic - $100

This is a brand new, completely unused Shure 520DX Green Bullet Dynamic Microphone. This mic it traditionally used for harmonica and kick drum. It has a volume knob and a 1/4" jack. Local pickup or delivery only.

OK, has anyone ever used one on a kick. I think it would sound like cardboard. Is'nt is a crystal mic?
And you can get one new from musicians friend with free shipping and no tax for the same price.

I am the world's greatest fan of the Green Bullet . . . but . . . kick drum? I'll have to give that a try  It doesn't have much low end though, nor proximity effect as it's an omni . . . also that price does suck. And you'd need to work out a mount; the KSM series shockmounts work but that's an awful lot of spread for the purpose.

I got a kick out of it when I read "traditionally used for harmonica and kick drum". I have a Hohner Blues Blaster and a kick is the last thing I would try to use it on.

haha, i looked it up on sure, and it doesn't even show it picking up anything under 100hz.

so to say the least, this is the last thing i'd use on a kick.

my bands vocalist uses one, we requested it specifically for the tendancy to overdrive and sound very mid rangy. I couldn't even imagine what it would do on a kick drum

Not much problably

A harmonica mic is just a shitty mic that will purposely mangle your sound.
I have a Green Bullet and bought it new for less.

For what it's worth, I recently used a D112 on harmonica with good results... :p :p :p

I like D112's on screaming vocals...

Kick mics can work well for that sort of thing. But they are cardioid, and even if their curve starts out like the Green Bullet (well the B52 does, less so the D112), it flattens considerably in the lows with proximity effect.
