I'm a newbie and was wonering i f i could get a a cheap keyboard like a casio or I was thinkin jx 305 and hook up to a jv 1080 synth? any info would be greatly appreciated!

djabc,

From your question, it seems like you just want a keyboard to control a more robust module (the JV1080). Rather than a cheap keyboard with few features to control a world-class module, you should consider getting an inexpensive keyboard controller.

Fatar, a.k.a. Studiologic sells a number of controllers. Some are about the price of cheap Casio keyboards ($200 - $250). These controllers come with no sounds of their own, but what you pay for is a quality keybed, professional controller features like multiple zones, additional controllers (faders, ribbons, etc.), aftertouch and variable velocity/pressure settings. So don't go the cheapie route. Get a controller, because that's what they were designed for... controlling modules at prices that don't break the bank.

P.S. I think that Musicians Friend sells Studiologic/Fatar controllers. Check out some of the other online retailers also.
