Good recording software

Hardware software

I think we all agree that usually the software that comes with the computer is not really up to the task of making a half decent recording. PCi cards are good but once again you are putting them in a noisy environment, many years ago I switched to standalone hardware, M Audio makes a lot of decent stuff for a reasonable price, also with outboard hardware you get more features like handy control of your headphone and other volumes and mixes. Myself I use the new Adobe Audition software and my son uses the Magix software because he deals a lot with samples, they are also a reasonable price.

Sorry, I lost track of this thread and didn't see your question VP.

The Delta 1010LT installs into a PCI slot in the back of your computer (assuming your computer has them---if not, then I'm not sure it will work). On my Dell Optiplex, it was pretty simple. Once it's installed, all of the connections hang out the back (but only a few inches).

I think I had to download an ASIO driver at some point. I used a free one (ASIO4ALL I think), and since then, I've not had any problems with Reaper (that is ... those that I didn't cause myself. :) )

Thanks, I think I do have some removable panels in the back of the new HP.

Yeah, truth be told I used reaper for a few months before buying it. This was back in the early days though when they were only charging 40-45 for it. Reaper is a solid buy IMO.

Yes, Reaper looks good. I think I will be getting the MAudio 1010. I am looking forward to using my computer with my TSR-8 I have in my computer room. What is cool is I can move 8 track tapes back and forth between my computer set up and my main studio, which is in another building.

Wow that looks sweet! I always debate buying a tape machine when I see a used one. I'd love to hear some clips!

I have a new HP h8 1210 which is probably very much like the OP. I just ordered a usb mic, so I guess I'm in for an ugly time, head scratching, and lots of frustrations in the future *sigh*
Nothin' is ever easy !!

Hi
I just got a new HP computer and it came with a simple recording program. The problem I have with it is on playback it adds a "Whining" sound to my music. What is available that sounds good and has options?

Thanks

VP

Windows has its own recording software which is besr and free which can sane and wave format and also mp3. .
