Good Place to Buy Monitors that's NOT Musician's Friend

I also have had good luck with american musical supply.
I'll go with that, though I admit my experience with them is limited to a single small purchase maybe a couple of years ago or so. But I'm feeling kinda guilty about it, so I'll be happy to endorse them here. What happened was I needed to buy a single replacement harmonica, and a web search turned up them to have the best price at that time plus free shipping - even though it was only a $14 harp. Since then they have been sending me full catalogs on a regular basis, which surely have cost them more money than they made on my harp purchase. So, yeah guys, check them out at least, and relieve the guilt that I get every time they send me a couple hundred pages of color catalog simply because I bought a $14 harp from them. :o
even though technically I think they own Musician's Friend if memory serves.
Yep, they are related. In fact, GC - at least the GCs around me - will match any price you find on the MF website. They won't always smile when they do it, but they will do it.

A great place to buy monitors is from your local music store. They can order factory direct normally and are usually willing to match or beat any price you get online. Then you'll have local support too if something goes wrong.

speak for yourself

MY local music store is run by some fat douche who tries to pawn peavey and marshall crap on you every time you walk in the door, and who not only doesn't carry any pro audio/recording gear, but also doesn't know dick about it

I go to my local shop for guits and amps, well I try to most of the time anyway. They have some PA's. But the used Peavey mixer that's been on sale and discounted several times sums up their pro audio/ recording. And mic wise, they only ever have Peavey vocal mics. Not even an Sm57.
