Well, between the two of ya, you nailed all 5 - good catch, Lopp

Speed - those last two - "Stranger in a Strange Land" - from Somewhere in Time - "The Prophecy" - from 7th Son of a Seventh Son

I personally lost interest in Maiden after Adrian left.

Sorry all, but Jannick Gers needs to be strung up by his balls with his own guitar strings. Any evidence you need to support this claim can be found on Brave New World - which he co-wrote the majority of - and sounds like a weak-ass grungified imitation of Maiden.

My personal favorite tracks? Damn, hoss. It's hard for me to name anything '88 back that I don't like - with the possible exception of the Killers album - it's no wonder they fired Di'Anno after that...

If I had to do a top 10 list, it would probably look like

10. Stranger in a Strange Land
9. Back in the Village
8. Phantom of the Opera
7. Remember Tomorrow
6. Flight of Icarus
5. Alexander the Great
4. Revelations
3. Infinte Dreams
2. Rime of the Ancient Mariner
1. Hallowed Be Thy Name

(can you tell I'm way into the long, self-indulgent stuff? :))

Yeah Grif,

While I preferred Adrian's contributions, I didn't mind some of the post-Adrian stuff while they still had Dickenson. However, something seemed lacking even with their return on Brave New World.

DAMN YEAH! After I saw the last of the 5 was from thr Prophecy I resung it, and realised it. My problem was, when I first read it, I was tight up in this 4/4 beat, while the Prophecy is 6/8....

But Stranger in a strange land, I don't know the lyrics of that song that well. I have "Somewhere..." on vinyl, like "No prayer" and that's why I don't play them that often, as I care for the status of vinyl :)

Nice to see some similarities in our lists, Grif. Yeah, I forgot Infinite Dreams...I like that even better than Moonchild, because Infinite Dreams has so many different moods captured in one song. Nice one, pal!

FUCK NU METAL! LISTEN TO IRON MAIDEN!!!!

I'm not so much into them anymore, but in high school, I loved Maiden. In fact, Powerslave is among my top ten hard rock albums of all time, and I saw them in Seattle on that tour, which was their first stop on the U.S. leg.

It remains one of the greatest rock spectacles I've ever seen: They played the Star Spangled Banner, and of course all the Egyptian props were cool, and the gigantic, mummified Eddy w/ flaming eyes was the capper.

thems was the days!

p.s.: The opening band was none other than Twisted Sister :p

Aaron - Holy SHIT!

Damn, dude - you're taking me back. I saw Maiden on the Slavery tour at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester, Massachussets. I would have given my eye teeth to see them with TS, though... Man, I bet that was a spectacle

P.S. I'm not ashamed to admit that I still own a copy of Come Out and Play on vinyl with the manhole cover on the front that opens up to Dee Snider's HIDEOUS mug...

talkin' bout 80's metal

I saw about 5 years ago 2 small gigs with some 80's GR80's! :)

Gig 1=Raven-Tank-Hammerfall
Gig 2=Exciter, Flotsam and Jetsam, Anvil

This 2nd gig is still talked about, as for having the best atmosphere ever! Everyone was friends then, giving beer to each other, throwing beer to each other and spitting beer to each other. ;)
Flotsam opened with "Hammerhead" !!!! After the show the original guitarist (I forgot his name, he's the one with the bugs bunny-teeth :) Adams? I dunno, he's not Michael Gilbert) came to me and said: "WOw, for a younger fellow like you, you seem to know the old lyrics pretty well, dude" That was way cool!

Keep 80's metal alive!

Get a clue

I've read through this thread and have but one thing to say for you Peavey fanatics. Peavey is crap. That is all there is too it, i've played them all, read their specs, compared them to many popular amps and no matter what tone your looking for, they are at the bottom of the list. There's a reason they make black widows so easy to replace, because you tonedeaf freaks play so loud, distorted and digitaly processed crap through them in an atonal attempt at what you call music, they'll tear themselves apart. My advice, by an old fender, all tube of course, turn it all the way up and listen to its tone.

Though I almost agree, I wonder which retard registered with another user ID just to pass on that bit of brilliance? If it was a first post, God help us.

Fangar

same retard that calls himself "BlkLesPaul" and tells everyone to go buy a fender guitar

That wasn't me.... If I was going to blast somebody I don't need to get another user name. And not to support that guys argument, cause he made it in a very ignorant way, he was saying buy a Fender amp.

Jake

yeah..now that i read it again...i stand corrected he was talking about a fender amp....so, let me say this... (and put on my steave martin rabbit ears)....excuuuuuuse me!
LOL
i have had a fender twin and super reverb by the way, and i still like peavey amps. Guess im a freak huh.

you know, it IS possible to get a shitty tone out of a les paul and a tube amp set up...watch the movie "the song remains the same". Jimmy page should have got him a peavey (hahaha)...and tuned with the rest of the band of course

Actually, this is my first post AND, although i may have stated this opinion in an ignorant way, i stand by the fact that peavey's are considered low end equiptment for a reason. and the term 'freak' was used to describe the stereotypical image in my mind of anyone who desires the tone given from "4 13's in a bass cabinet". Obviosly a novice guitar player without any regard for the tone a guitar SHOULD produce.

BlkLesPaul...

Be careful more. I'm not a novice (playing guitar for 9 years now, 6 years private lessons, 2 years college-lessons on the dutch Rock Academy), yet I like my Bandit, price/value wise. Read the whole thread if you like, and I hope you'll see what Jimistone and I mean... just because it has the Peavey name, that doesn't mean that it instantly sucks. If you think that way, go ask yourself why there's still Behringer-gear around in top $$ studio's. There IS quality stuff around at a low price:
-AudioBuddy
-ECM8000
-SM57
-Peavey Bandit 112
-etc.

Yes, they aren't top notch, but are their prices?
Yes, a Focusrite ISA 430 will outrule the Audiobuddy ($4000 vs. $79), A Neumann U87 will outrule the ECM8000 ($2000 vs. $35), the RCA mic that Harvey was talking about somewhere will outrule the SM57 (RCA $? vs. $79), and a Hughes and Kettner Tri-Amp will outrule the Bandit 112 ($1800 vs. $380)

See my point?

where are the 450.00 fender twins? I'll take one at that price

the music store where i got my bandit is a fender dealer. I thought about a princeton, but I played through one for about 30 minutes and then played through the bandit for 30 minutes or so. The bandit sounds better

i thought you said that you haven't tried the new line of transtube bandits....so, im wondering how you are making a comparison

so speeddemon, time to give up anonimity and come forward with your peavey abnormality ... J/K...

play in a band or something there? kinda wondering for i am DUTCH ... not that it matters.

but uh bandits? nonono... sorry there but I have to back up jrlemonz (hope i got your name right) better to be a snob then to have crappy tone... peavey will never be a great tone... decent maybe

guhlenn

oh there is SOME thing i'd like to add;

YOU'RE FROM THE DUTCH/POLISH BORDER???? THERE IS NO DUTCH POLISH BORDER. not even close... dutch polishj border.... comeon dude what kinda shit do you smoke?
