thanks for the reply
so either usb or pci, just something sonar will agree with and stop telling me the audio has "dropped out" during playback and recording.
Hi,
I guess I should've been clearer, but my point was ....'get anything that won't break the bank, rather than using that terrible Realtek device....which is useless for anything else other than playing back Windows sound FX'.
Now, I love PCI stuff (still), as it appears to offer great bang for buck,..so if you have a spare PCI slot or 2 on an older type PC look at something that has built in pre-amps (1 or 2), or if you have a mixing desk (or seperate pre-amps) go for something like the Delta 44/66/1010/1010LT...those things are super rock-solid...(and so darn cheap nowadays!!)
How about a second hand Presonus/Lexicon/Motu /Echo firewire, for a more modern feel??? (a 'Modern' interface is not necessarily more reliable though!!)
I could go on and on, as I don't know your PC/Price specifics, but others here will help you with more suggestions, I'm sure.
I was once broke, and had no choice but to use 4 SB Live! pci cards to get 8 channels of I/O, they were a lot of fun to use!, but I did get some acceptable sounds out of them. (I'm sure you could do better than that though!!).
Anyways, at least your post has been 'bumped' now!.

Cheers,
Spit.
