Without DJL, who is going to pick up the slack so people here have someone to freak out and cry over like a buncha' cyber sissies?

I dont really blame him for leaving.

I know DJL had very strong opinions and he stood by them, but its no different than anyone else here. His opinion was the minority so no body liked it. It reminds me of a freakin religion.

I myself have thought about leaving this forum for good, and i have friends that are either thinking it too or have all ready left. Even though ive been able to avoid situations of posts being flamed at me, it still bugs the hell out of me when i see it with other people. Its also too bad that its happening to smart people who really have something to contribute to this forum like DJL.

Come on people, freaking banning DJL? What exactly has he done that has really been a disgrace to this board? Stood by his opinion about PMI Audio? Its like a 99.9% religion town where the .1% who dont believe gets thrown out of town, stoned, murdered.

With DJL leaving it also puts me into the consideration that i should leave. I probably dont have much to contribute to this board anyway.

Unfortunately, DJL went way beyond having an opinion that was unpopular. He started threads and presented speculations as facts.

DJ started most of the flames and trolls himself, all of them regarding PMI related stuff. It's too bad he can't control himself in this one area.

He hasn't been banned - he's left of his own volition (unless I missed something.)

It's one thing to post your opinion, no matter how off the wall it may be. It's another thing to post the same opinion 1000 times.

DJL has never been banned as far as I am aware, and nobody here took that idea seriously at all. He's taken his toys and gone home - for now. I hope he comes back, and I hope he can find a way that lets him feel welcome, because he is welcome. The only thing that wasn't welcome was his compulsive perseveration on the one negative thing. Like that guy from Vermont posting too many jamfest4 threads in the cave.

It might be a good idea once in a while to take a vacation from a bbs and return to an another substitute alternate reality and less compulsivity and take up with one's other obssessions and then return with a slightly less clouded view after some breaths of fresh hair.

Harvey - Yah i guess he did take it a little too far. I guess i had kind of forgotten because i tried to stay away from things like that.

I know he didnt get banned, i didnt mean to say that if i did. I just meant there was a thread posted about him being banned, and i was referring to that.

And i remember seeing the pretty absurd posts that he made earlier on. But lately i have seen some pretty positive replies from him and it made me completely forget the other stuff. But it still seems like people were giving him a hard time for it.

I just wanted to bring the whole ordeal up in a whole, not just targetted with DJL.

Other than his obsession with trashing PMI and Alan, I have no problem with DJL, and I've said that many times in this forum. He's a valuable contributor here, as long he stays away from SP and Alan, where he gets unreasonable, IMO.

As I mentioned in another thread, if he confined himself to simply pointing out to new posters that Alan is President of PMI and has a possible bias, or if DJL simply said, "I diasagree for these reasons...", I wouldn't have any problems with that, as long as DJL made it clear which reasons were facts and which were his opinions or suppositions.

The problem with DJL and Alan was also Alan's fault. The way he reacted on DJL was wrong IMHO. He shouldn't have reacted at all, after all Alan is supposed to be a smart man, being employer of 100? people.

DJL may have a very strong opinion, but he's a cool guy. I've had my fights with him, but we became kind of buddies, he has sent me PM's and asked me if I was angry with him, which I was not because I never get angry.

Imagine someone would start a thread about you like the banning thread about Don. What would you do?

I would leave this board at once and I'd never come back. Do you guys really think DJL is a robot without feelings?

Sounds like you didn't read QQ's post; he was responding to that chatter on these threads with the point that banning is NOT the answer. As far as DJL's feelings, I agree with you, which is why I was at a loss as to why he never got the message. If an entire community rejects your behavior, maybe the problem is not with the community.

When I was in high school, I was driving down a straght, level paved road on a sunny day and came across a buddy of mine in his pickup truck. The truck was in the middle of the road, sitting perfectly balanced, on its roof. The guy was still upside down in the truck and the wheels were still rolling. He got out and started ranting about the road. I don't think you can blame the road for everything.

Unfortunately some people appear to have short memories in regard to the past issues that have brought us to this point.

I doubt everyone reads everything here, it's a lot of text. Not everyone is informed about what everyone else is posting or if they are going over the line. But if someone does go off the handle and gets a little crazy, then they can't take it hard if someone else starts a funny thread about how crazy they got.

plenty of us have strong opinions or make statements others flame, but that's kind of expected if you've been around the internet for a while and see any bbs at all, or group. People call me names and try to insult all the time, but I also know that typing to someone isn't face to face and some folks don't care to uphold the quality of their conversation on line as if it were face-to-face. So I don't take it that way.

Then again, many of us do keep it up to that same level. I have a face, my face, on my avatar and I never post something I wouldn't want to say directly to someone, or that I would need to later retract. But I still know that many type as if it's only a machine and they're being obnoxius, letting off steam, or whatever, and that's fine for me if that helps them feel better.

It takes 2 to tango and I don't dance, much.

Han, DJL attacked Alan and his integrity in his posts. Of course Alan had to respond, and when he responded professionally he just got attacked more viciously, and not just by DJL. There were other offenders also. This goes back several years, and is not a recent thing. DJL just couldn't let go.

Alan has nothing to proove, he's a very intelligent man and every sane (home) engineer knows he makes high quality mics, considering the price.

So when someone attacks Alan, he shouldn't respond the way he did, it's just oil on the fire.

It even has gotten a little childish every now and then. Of course DJL was to blame, I've never understood why he was so picky on Alan, but he also has helped a lot of novice engineers with very valuable advice.

If some goon or moron attacks me and my integrity/credibility, I will not respond. Anybody can hear my 'quality' on my website and read about what people have to say about me when they perfom a Google search.

When some moron attacks my children I will kill him tho.
