Hey from a Newbie!!

Can anyone recommend a good preamp for the Shure SM7 mic please? For use on voice over only.....I hear that the SM7 needs 60db + of gain....?

Am considering:

Studio Projects VTB 1
DBX 286A
M-Audio DMP-3
ART pro Channel (really out of my range, but hey....)

Would be WAY cool if I could find something with compression/eq on it too.....but at the end of the day I just want a decent quiality sound.

Thnx!!:p:p

Are you you using your computer for recording? You need an interface, not a pre-amp. Your recording software will have the compression f/x.

post this in "the rack" forum and you will get more replies since a preamp is gear not a technique.

and you really just need something thats quiet enough with enough gain for that mic. based on your list the DMP3 does the job. i don't have experience with the others.

Oops! Thanks, I'll post it in the correct section.....my bad!!
