all up in yo grill!
i'm curious to know how much does it sound like the sm-57 seeing as how i have a behringer mixer...it should fit right in but I dont know. anyone heard it?

I bought 6 of them for my drums and love them. Use them on toms with great results. Also used on a guitar cab. Very nice! The output is a little hotter than a 57 and some say the low end is a little different than an sm57. I myself don't hear any difference in the low end.

Those clips you posted were tracked with them???. I mean snare and toms. I remember how good your drums sounded but I can recall the mic setup.

Those tracks were done with MXL63s as overheads, Superlux FK-2 on kick (with homebuilt speakermic added), Superlux ECO-H6A on snare and GLS ES-57s on toms. I've used the ES-57 on snare and it sounds really good. I just like the ECO-H6A because its a side address condenser and I can position it between my snare and toms on its side and its easlily out of the way and protected.

No EQ on the toms BTW.

jeeeez no one answers for 9 months and now 3 in one day lol. i saw them on ebay and was curious..I've since lost interest, but if people are getting good results, I can turn my head back around.

 I´m seriously thinking about GLS....Is Ebay the only place where you can find them??. How much did you pay?.

Sorry, these are old and I keep posting them. We're rewiring our little garage studio and I'll have newer, stronger, faster clips soon.

Hey, I found a clip where we used the ES-57 on snare and a guitar cab (clean)! This one has the drums recorded before the subkick. The guitar cab is an ES-57 on the speaker with a Royer modded MXL v67g about 2 feet back, blended slightly.

Its my guitarists first tune by himself writing, singing and playing all the parts. We still have to tighten it up.

i think the website is speakerrepair.com
i got 3 of them and i think 6 cables non-ebay

Bought a 3-pack of them and use them on snare, mounted toms and guitar. It does indeed sound amazing. I did a side by side with a SM57 and honestly, can't hear the difference. Excellent mic, and great to bulk up on.

Sounds good. Your drum setup was exactly the same for both clips???.

The only difference for the test clips was the first had no subkick mic. We also tried different mic positioning. The drums on the song were done before the test clips.

You can get a 10 pack of the ES-57s for $199 on eBay. That's 10 mics for a little more than the cost of 2 sm-57s.

You can also get that same deal directly from the link I posted above.......and not have to go through ebay. :)

Wowsers, easy on the compressor there.
The mics sound pretty good, but the tracks breate like me after I've ran 3 miles!

Ease up dude. Those were test tracks and I was making hand gestures to the guitarist the whole time, who was behind the mixer. Guess you didn't see the word TEST in each title. I wasn't laying down tracks, just getting levels. Its not that big a deal. BTW, did you mean breathe or breate? I've never breate anyone! You can go to jail for that!

As for compression, that's how it goes. If you haven't learned that yet, you will.

Ok, these sound similar to the 57, based on some A/B'ing by you guys, but how are these GLS mics built ? Do they have the same quality constructionc as the Shure's ?

Thanks,

Daniel

They're built like Shure. The plastic grill could be broken, but you could drive my F-150 over the body. I like that the grill isn't moveable like some sm-57's. You know how after a while you can spin it?
