Gibson Dusk Tiger

How did Jimi Hendrix stay in tune without the Dusk Tiger? That just sounds retarded... Who would want to buy something called a Dusk Tiger? That sounds like a new scent of perfume. This must be a desperation move by Gibson. But if they can get a big name to "endorse" them, I'm sure the Dusk Tigers (I can't even type that without laughing) will fly off the shelves.

How did Jimi Hendrix stay in tune without the Dusk Tiger?

By tuning the guitar, surprisingly. After every few songs he quickly tuned his guitar, which was especially needed after rocking that whammy bar a bit.

But yeah, this is admittedly ridiculous. Aside from being overkill, and probably making even the most gearslutty geeks chuckle - this is one ugly-assed tiger!

Maybe the folks over at Gibson got tired of all the lawsuits and decided to build something only a few people would want (hense limited edition) and certainly no one is going to want to copy. ;)

That metal control cavity cover is homer ugly. And I thought with the Tiger name it would have much nicer flaming than that. I do like to see the combo out, some of the features sound interesting but the tuning thing is a waste. I mean, if you can afford that guit, you can also afford roadies to hand you fresh guitars and techs to tune them.

I'd like to see a Tiger Woods edition instead, it could double as a golf club and comes with a green jacket and a couple of sleazy chicks :D

Fugly, fugly, fugly. The fugliest LP ever manufactured. I think. :o :D

Did they do a zoot suit LP, or just the SG

A far as I know, just the SG. I thought the Zoot Suit was ugly in a funky offbeat kind of way. Wouldn't own one, though, and I can't imagine what the laminate does to the tone.

I agree that it's ugly as sin itself. You can barely even call that a Les Paul with all of the variations it has from a traditional LP. But it has some interesting features that I'd be curious to fool around with. While I'm sure that it's going to be cost-prohibitive to actually own one (wow, $4128 MSRP), I'm also sure that it'd be a fun toy to play with at your local guitar shop or at home for an overnight tryout.

A lot of those featres I've never seen or played first-hand so I can't dis them quite yet. The 4 volume knobs are mismatched and out of place for a LP. But I do like the little dot matrix display in the middle of one of the speed knobs. They should have put speed knobs in all 4 positions instead of putting those weird-looking top-hat knobs on there. And that pick guard has to go, fookin fugly if you ask me.

Did anybody look at the back? It looks like hard textured plastic from the photo but I can't quite tell. Again, fugly. And those pickups, what the hell are those supposed to be? They look like EMGs with downs syndrome. The little tiger tooth inlays are kind of cool, although they'd be no use to me in getting my bearings on the fretboard (was I half-past the tiger's ass, quarter 'till his balls?).

In 15 years, the people who bought these things assuming that they'd become rare will be   while everyone else will still be wondering what the hell Gibson was thinking.
