Getting the MIDI metronome to work with the Virutal Sound Canvas

I replaced my Soundblaster with a Delta 44. I couldn't get the two cards working together, so I just took the SB out of my computer entirely.

Since I need MIDI to do drums, I'm using the Virtual Sound Canvas DX Instrument plugin as my MIDI output device. It works fine for that.

But I can't get the metronome to work with Virtual Sound Canvas . I have the MIDI output on the metronome set to 'ON.' I don't use the metronome for anything other than counting in measures when tracking. But it's real nice for that.

Does anybody know how to get the metronome MIDI output to work with the Virtual Sound Canvas?

Thanks.

This has been answered before... last thread was here. Lots of tips! :)

Thanks for the tip.

Except for the Ping DX plugin option (which I am totally unfamiliar with) I don't think any of those approaches are going to get the metronome working as a count in. Correct?

a way around this would be to sequence a metronome track.
you pick a sound like a rimshot or a cowbell, and then use it to play like a metronome. you don't have to manually enter the notes on the whole track of course. you just do like 4, and copy it to the rest of the song.
sounds poor, but it's what i usually do to avoid any problems.

Or make it onto a Groove Clip and drag the end to the end of the song (or as long as you like)... :)

hmm... it's good to know that. i haven't started learning about the looping possibilities of sonar yet.

Just select an audio-clip and hit Ctrl+L. Drag till your hearts delight. :)

i'm having a hard time adapting to audio editing in sonar. not that it's worse (or better, for that matter) than in pro audio, but it's kind of awkward to me.

Just zoom in! It's easy! With the lazzo-tool (hold down Z while selecting) it's a breeze...

Or use an external audio-editor such as Soundforge, Wavelab or CoolEdit.
