Hey
My name's Russ, and I have zero knowledge/experiance with recording. I have a band and we really want to get our stuff recorded. I was just wondering what we would need to get hooked up and recording at the cheapest possible. We have one accoustic drumset, one rhythm guitarist, one lead guitarist, one vocalist, and one bassist that we would need hooked up tp record. I was wondering if you could just tell me what equipment we'd need and how to get started. Thanks alot, and if you need to know anything else about what I want to do, just ask.

You'll need to fill us in a bit more.... you looking to simply cut a demo, or are you interested in recording for yourself?

There's a long learning curve for you go undergo before you get anything down that even close to acceptable....

If you're just trying to cut a quick demo, you'd be better off booking cheap time slots at a local-area studio.........

We are working on making a demo in the studio right now, but we were thinking of recording a full cd on our own. I was just wondering what things we'd need to do it. I don't really want anything fancy, more like a raw live sound. I don't want to make it too polished or over-edited. I kno i'm probably not making much sense, but it'd be wicked if you could help me out, thanks.

The next question is 'how much do you want to spend'? Then, what gear do you already have that can be used for the recording process - mics, mixer, effects, etc...

If you're in the studio right now, the best thing you could do is observe as much as possible and ask as many questions as possible (without annoying the engineer). Take notes if you have to.

I was going to ask the same question that elevate asked.

How much money do you have to spend????????
