Hey people,

I'm (very) new at the home recording thing ... as in just planning my initial steps once I get out of the army & move back to California. What I need now, since I can't get into any actual construction/setup until I move home, are some good books that'll give me some basic information I can sink my teeth into. Any recommendations? I purchased a BOSS BR-1180CD, so I'm gonna be working with that. At this point, I'll take any info I can get, but remember, I'm totally a novice. I need to learn about everything from mikes to soundproofing to price ranges. All I've got at this point is a whole lot of enthusiasm and well, a BOSS BR-1180CD. Where do I start? Thanks in advance!

You can search around this sight; lots of references for information, sites, and recording know-how.

Also, there are many other recording sites on the net--just kind of snoop around and read.

If you are able to use a library wherever you may be, that is another good resource; as well, junior/senior colleges often offer courses dealing with sequencing, via the Roland gear or Yamaha--at a Junior College, the tutition is usually very low.

Good luck to you and stay safe.
