Haha, it's an old nickname from when I was in the military. I started using on the forums because I'm all about the dirty tones. It originally came from the movie Young Guns.

Hey Rusty, are you RustyMetal from Gear Talk?
 
Yessir :D Glad you made it over here. I like to bring the dirt too. Along with a little old school metal. You know, way back in the '90s. :facepalm:
 
Haha, cool! I hardly ever check in over there anymore. It could be a great place, but it's soooo boring with only like 3 people posting every few days, lol!
 
True, but it's gotten a little busier lately. If more people would chip in, it wouldn't be that way. I'm also on GuitarAmpBoard. Many people from HarmonyCentral have migrated over there. That's a real good one and full of great guitarist with amazing sounds. You should join there also. :D

(I hope I didn't say anything wrong by mentioning another forum here.)
 
It usually takes me a while to settle in at a new place and get a feel for it. I was invited here by Minerman that I know from the Marshall forum and now I find I know someone else here too so that helps. I'm sure I'll get to know you guys as questions come up and I start posting in different sections. This forum seems cool so far. :thumbs up:

Rusty I've been to that forum before because a guy that ripped me off on an amp is a member there. It doesn't look like he posts there anymore and only made a few posts anyway, but that's how I know that forum. If you want to know more about what I'm talking about check out the last few pages in the new tone thread in the guitar and bass section here. I posted about it there because that's where my friend hangs out and he talked about me there before I joined here. I rebuilt said amp and proved someone with no amp experience at all could do a better job. (long story). Anyway, then I needed to post a clip for the guys that helped me and that's where I had problems that eventually led to my being here.

I wanted to post my clip over there, but I found out I had to have ten post before I could post a link and that's how I ended up here after Greg told me about this thread. After that I posted pics and a clip and told a little bit of the story.

Sorry for the long post, I didn't know how to make it shorter. :)
 
Aw man, sorry to hear that. I think he got raked over the coals pretty hard and left outta shame. And then there's the huge debacle of another guy running a different forum. I haven't been over there that long, so it's none of my business and I just steer clear. There's hardly no mention of anything like that anymore, the admin keeps a pretty fair and firm grip. Anyway, glad to see you over here. I'm a newb here too.

Seems to be plenty of helpful and knowledgeable folks here. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay.



Edit: I should say that little bit of issues is long over and done with at GAB. Quite a bit in the past. The admin keeps all that drama out of the forum and only allowed a thread or two as information about amp builders, not just mud slinging. It's all good now.
