Well... the way I see it... you have to decide on WHAT you're reviewing...
From your "categories", it's apparent you're trying to look at it from a mostly songwriting perspective.... when in fact, there are many here with cool songs, but bad engineering.......
When I listen or comment on someone's tune, it is almost always strictly from an engineering viewpoint... commenting on the actual song itself is virtually useless since musicality is so subjective a topic and it's simply a question of personal taste.... (which is ridiculous to try and critique!)
And your rating system doesn't provide enough information to describe specific problems areas the "reviewee" needs to focus on.
Instead of trying to slot stuff into generalized chunks, why not simply listen to the stuff here and post your opinions..... from your perspective - (naturally... who else's perspective could you post from!?!?
)
Good luck....!

This thread give me the perfect context to get a coupla thing off my chest.
1:When I post an mp3,I'm more often than not looking for a critique of the song,rather than the engineering,though I welcome any insight as to how I can improve my recording skills and technique.I just place a slightly higher value on the writing/arranging side of it.That may be why I'm still satisfied w/my 16bit soundcard and archaic guitar processor.This doesn't mean I don't want to improve in the area of fidelity,or that I don't appreciate and respect the opinions of those who listen and respond,which brings me to :
2:I have a difficult time getting people to listen to my mixes,which could be for a number of reasons,such as;
A)I don't spend enough time in "the clinic",listening to other folks mixes,and commenting.That is certainly true.Generally I'm guilty of
only participating when I have a new mix I want heard.This isn't as self serving as it may sound though.Generally,until I have a final mix,I'm spending most of my free time working on my tune!Whatever,I appreciate those who do listen,and will generally reciprocate as time and my 56k modem allow!
B)My stuff is either too heavy,too wierd or too depressing for those who have listened before.I can understand that!
C)I just suck,and people don't want to hear stuff that sucks.
Whatever the case may be,here's a guy offering to listen!I'll take it!Check out "Voices in my head"(my favorite so far)or any of the other one's,and give me your thoughts(or facial symbols) on any aspect of the material!
