I've gone analog

I found MXR's analog pedals a few weeks ago and have become addicted to these cute little boxes, and divested myself, thanks to ebay, of the boss versions of these effects that I had previously, to help in pay for my little spree. Really sounds like an upgrade to my ears.

Custom badass '78 distortion
Custom comp
Script phase 90
Carbon Copy
Analog Chorus

And to round out the Jim Dunlop love fest:
Classic Cry Baby Wah

I love how these sound compared to what I had before and am using them ahead of DI to amp/cab sims in the box and in front of a Vox AC4, L'il Night Train and Blackstar HT5 for recording real amps and speakers pushing air

Just picked up a Boss ME-70 multiple effects pedal. It's got just almost everything.

I've had it for a while but recently finished some late nite guitar recording where we used the AdrenaLinn III with very satisfying results. In a couple of cases we recorded a dry trak and used the A3 to re-amp and a few others were recorded straight thru the A3, the compressor and amp models are as good as anything else I have heard. We then used some of the sequences to add trippy modulation and delay effects.

Picked up an old Ibanez CS-505 Chorus that sounds freaking great. The thing is a beast though (runs on 18V or two 9V batteries!), but the sound is literally bang-on. It's different than the BOSS CE-2, which is thicker, but for a wash chorus, the CS-505 is about as good as I'd want. It's got a kind of sparkle that you just don't seem to get from the newer stuff.

Also grabbed a Kasha ODP-1 Overdrive. It's an odd bird, but really gives that boost/chunk without mangling the low end. I'd almost compare it to one of those Brian May Treble Booster thingies, but it's a tad more on the gritty side.

Suds . . .
