After listening to some of these entries, I'm wondering how many people actually read the instructions. I wonder how the talent would feel if they were sitting in on these sessions? I could hear Liza in my head saying "hey what the heck you doin'? That's not what we played. We're a rock and roll band not a techno dance band!". Anyway, I'm glad some people aren't reading cause "Only mixes fulfilling these requirements will be considered for the contest.".

I really hope you don't die in an avalanche of severed penises. That'd be a waste of severed penis.

I figure I'm doing somebody a favor. There is this:
The rule is that the song’s arrangement must remain the same
(no additional harmonica or kazoo tracks please). If you think
it absolutely necessary, advanced mixing techniques such as
"drum triggering" are allowed but should remain as
transparent as possible. This contest is about mixing not about
producing.

Nice job. One of the saner mixes I've heard so far. (I'm not pointing any fingers!).
Thank you very much!

I really hope they take those Puremix subscriptions and give them to people who could really use them. Likewise with the gear. I'd really hate to see those Focals go to some dude sitting behind a $300,000.00 SSL and a couple of Bowers and Wilkins or Genelec 1036a. Because you know that a guy who already has an established studio is only going to want them for the hoard value. Sure give them the guy with the best mix who could use a new set of monitors....channel strip, microphone, DAW.

I think everyone who subscripted could really use some of those prices, no :D
Is there actually a mix done on an expensive console with outboard gear?

Cheers,
Andy

Nice mixing. Good luck for you!

Glad to hear that, the song pretty much mixed it self so to speak :) Thank you for taking time to listen and comment, appreciate it!

there's one where someone does mention quite a lot of expensive outboard hardware but when you hear it, you hear nothing but the guitars with an insane compression. if i find it, will share.

Hi! Puremix
I upload my first mix a couple of weeks ago, but then I realized there are some mistakes in my mix. I erase mi first mix, and then I upload a new one. there is some problem if i did this?
Thanks.

You're probably right. I guess I'm just overreacting to the pictures of dudes sitting in front of their expensive consoles or just pics of expensive consoles in connection with the Soundcloud profiles. Probably scooped off of the internet.

....Scratch that. This guys monitors alone are worth more than most peoples home studios:

I mix on ProTools HDX 10.3.5
and 16DA out of HDi/o to Dengerous 2 Bus
→Manley Vari Mue(no gain reduction I used it as a tube line amp )
→Samplitude11Pro
Monitor is BearFoot MM27 .

I use many AAX plugins ( Softube Sonnox etc.. )
and Waves Manny Marroquin Signature plugins.
Seriously, those are worth $9000.00. Just the monitors. Each.

Actually, if you go through some of the descriptions, there's at least a few out there (three already in the past 5 minutes I've been looking) that are mixing on Avid HDX rigs. That's a 10 grand minimum investment.

This is probably a stupid question but I've seen no posts about it. What format do we submit our mixes? A 24bit wave, or bounce it down to 16bit CD quality? I would appreciate it if anyone who has already uploaded their mix knows this. Thank You.

That's a SoundCloud issue. How do you uplolad to soundcloud? With whatever format they accept, they will convert to 128kbps for streaming.

That's why you must make your submission downloadable; pureMix knows soundcloud is compressing the sound when you play it, so they won't listen to it in soundcloud but they'll download the track. When you download a track you get exactly what's been uploaded. SO GUYS UPLOAD A 24 bit / 44.1 kHz WAV FILE!!!

Here is my entry.

I think I got all those noises out of it. I wish there were more drum tracks to better mix them but there you go.

In your post dialog, click on "Go Advanced" then select the SoundCloud icon. Grab the "Share" URL from soundcloud and put it between the tags.
