Hello,
this is my first post here, and first of all, well, hi...
I'm trying to figure out on my very own just how to make a good mix and how all those recording techniques work, and this board has been very helpful to say the least.
The type of music I make is what we could call experimental hip hop. I own a Motif 6, a pretty good PC (Audigy soundcard) with soundforge and some MSP 5s as well as a not too bad but not great Shure mic.
My question would be: what do you recommend I get next? I wanted to buy a DTD recorder, but as I said, I'm learning everything by myself, and I don't know if it's very necessary. Should I just get a mixing console and record on my computer? or a DAT? Or just an 8 track that records on cassettes?
I'm looking into getting the DPS12 (or 16) or the Korg D16. What do you guys think about it? Is it overkill? I'm really having trouble getting a good mix, so I thought such a piece of machinery could help me out..unless i'm just plain bad at it and should'nt bother..heh..
any help would be appreciated, thanks
