Fusion of Celtic/Folk & Hard Rock

Okay, this is on topic: Mistral, your song sucks. Totally dervative and unoriginal, with no merit whatsoever. "Celtic/Metal fusion?" Yeah, right. You might have just as well called it a Tai/Mexican fusion hamburger, because it has as much in common with whatever THAT might be as it does with music.

And you KNOW I'm just kidding, right? Just to prove it, here's a link to yet another song... :)

If I get banned for this, someone obviously lacks a sense of humor.)

And yet, you still fail to add anything constructive to this thread. You're just trolling, humor or not. It's okay to say his song sucks, that it's Tai/Mexican/Fusion, or whatever but have some suggestions to help him out.

This is pretty well-arranged, although not my cup of tea. At times the timing is a little untight. The heavy guitar sounded a little thin to me, it lacks mids, the bass makes up quite well for that, nice sound. The traditional parts sound nice.

Joey :)

Okay, fair enough. I can take critisizm. I fail to see much of a celtic/metal fusion thing going on there- I truly posted the B47 links to demonstrate what that sort of fusion can be, and get some commercial success. If you are inclined, you might take some influence from them. If not, no skin off my nose, and I wish you success in whatever way you define it.

The bottom line is I like your song well enough, but not really enough to give it a critical ("too much bass, etc. etc.") listen, and thus I probably have nothing more to add, one way or another. I do NOT think it sucks. Are we clear on at least that?

I am baffled by your last post, though, Mistral. Did you NOT find any of the B47 links funny? Man, I laugh my head off everytime I listen to them.

Perhaps in a different situation I might have - I didn't even bother watching them through, and if you thought hard enough about it you might guess why... anyway, look, I even said in my original response to you that I might have described it wrong, but the original version had the flute thing going on, and along with the medievalish melodies, such a description imo isn't entirely unwarranted. So I am the one who is baffled that you got so anal over that one aspect especially when I clearly said not to get too hung up on that description. I would have even changed the title of the thread but it doesn't let you, which is kind of annoying. *shrugs*

JoeyM - thanks for the thoughts :)

Thanks grim and chili!

I have made a new mix that I believe improves several things, tightens it up, cleans up the mix and the guitars hopefully ought to satisfy you now, grim.

Cheers
You may not believe this after all your efforts but I prefer your initial version ! I listened to it so much that it kind of became definitive for me. Steve made the point that the flutes sounded fake but I never thought of that sound as flutes. Whatever they were, I really liked them and the current one feels bare without them. That all said, I think your 2 mixes are good. I'm encouraged by them.

Fair enough :) Whatever version you enjoy, I'm glad to hear you do.
