What is the difference between the RP series and the PL series, or the cheaper M series?

I know there is some doubt as to wether or not they condition anything in this price range, but I have great personal experience with the PL-8. It DOES condition the power to a degree. It also takes away ground loop from what I've seen with it. I have evident wall noise, prior to running equipment through it, and then it completely clears up the second I plug it in. It is not just a surge protector, as it contains a proper ground scheme and power coupling with filter caps. Surge protectors actually create ground loops more often than not. I have also had it eliminate the RF I was dealing with from time to time. When I plug my guitar amp into it, it practically lifts the veil off of my sound.

Anyway, I could go on for days about how important it is in my studio, but I mainly want to know about the RP series. I have heard when opened up, the M8 is just a surge protector, which is completely probable considering its position at the bottom of Furman's product line. Is the RP more like the M or the PL?

Thanks for any help with this.

As far as I know, they discontinued the RP series and replaced it with the Ms.

Oh. So it's probably a lot closer to the M series than the PL I guess. I saw a used one going for a better price than any PL-8 I've found recently, and I had hoped it would do roughly the same job, just without lights.
