From the basics

Hi to everybody and thaks sjoko2 for having introduced me to this site. I'm going to project a new environment for my studio so I need basic advices while I'm gathering all infos available on this site. The target area is now a typical garage of about 80 sq. meters 3 meters high (but I can dig 50 cm more), and the studio and control room placing is almost obliged, so it should come up with a 30 sq. meters control room and a 20 sq. meters studio which is not bad. The main concern is that this place needs to be isolated not to disturb anyone, so a typical room-within-room design is required, with floating floor, etc. The first info I need is : how much space will it cost ? I mean, to achieve a good isolation, what should be approximately, at the end of the game, the distance between existing (concrete) walls and the rooms' INTERNAL (treated) walls ? And what about the same issue with the ceiling and the floating floor (preferably concrete and with space for cables AND air ducts) ? Listen, I know it's complicated but I only would like to have an approximate exstimation !!! Thanks very much

Space The final Front Tier?

I would go with at least 2 Inches of dead air space all around your studio within existing walls. 4 inches would even be better If you could afford it!

Hey Steve! Nice to see you here.
Could you please post a simple drawing of the proposed layout and dimensions for your new place?

And, please post the link to your website? I've lost it and your current place is nice, I'm sure people here would like to see it.

Dom, what I was thinking of is about 40 cm. between the INTERNAL existing walls and INTERNAL studio walls, thus including acoustic materials. This way I think I can go 4 inches of air with no problem. Sjoko2, my site link is www.downinhollywood.com.
