This is the first song from my new band/project. After nearly a year of searching I finally found a guitarist/co-collaborator that was in the same mindset musically. The material is a little darker than most of the stuff I have posted in the past. Im not sure if it was a conscious choice to take a different direction but so far it has been alot of fun to explore some of the other metal genres that I enjoy.
So onto the song.....the drums are temporary (have a friend who is going to track some stuff for us in december) but for now I want to get this sounding as good as I can with what we have now. With this demo we are hoping to draw in some more members (bass, permanent drums and possibly vocals) to fill out our live band . I could be way off but I feel like a well done demo will draw in more of the "serious" musicians and possibly ward off the rest of the weirdos once we start placing ads.
The mix....this is an incredibly dense piece. It is by far the most tracks I have ever worked with. After creating verb tracks etc..(thanks to auditions shitty bus system) I think im sitting with 36-37 tracks at 96khz/24bit. My computer is ready to blow up LOL. I would never have used 96 to begin with but the other guitarist started the session in 96 and had already tracked most of his portion. So I am having to mix the song in sections because I can't play it all back at once. Its a little weird. Anyhow, need some feedback on the bass level/balance/kick etc...always have trouble with that in my room.
Thanks in advance, hope you enjoy the track
