Drums sound a little too far back in the mix on "Alright". Didn't listen to all, but great songs and great arrangements!

The Niz >> I have to agree with you that intro and outro are a little bit too long... to be really honest I made it a little bit on purpose cause the song is really really short and I didn't want to have a less than 2min song! Shame on me :o
Thanks a lot dude! :)

Giraffe >> what is a "clog" (sorry, you found my english limit :D )? I got mixed reactions concerning the distorted guitar. The fact is that the amp has been modelised with a plugin cause it was too complicated to record my Fender amp. I'm quite happy with the sound but I think I could get something less "fuzzy" and warmer with my real amp. Anyway you like it so it's great for me.
Snare on the right side? Are you sure of that? If that's the case it's not made on purpose :D
Many thanks for your comments! ;)

Seeker of Rock >> Thank you mate :p ! I still have some difficulties mixing the drums. Either it is too dry or too wet, I never find the right middle... but I will

According to many comments saying that there was too much reverb on drums I made a new mix of Pull The Trigger. It's not a big change but it's way better and the song is a little bit more punchy like this I think. The link didn't change ;) !!

Thanx !

I just noticed that a swedish webradio diffuse some of my songs I don't even know them, funny :p

i only listened to pull the trigger which i didnt like at all.

the distorted guitars sound cheap (v-amp???). the melody is boring and too repetitive. the whole thing sounds too much like starsailor or some other british semi alternative band.

Finally a negative feedback... that proves that I didn't pay anybody on this forum :p !! Well actually I have to admit that distorded guitar could have been way better... I used a VST effect cause it was too complicated to record my guitar amp.

"the whole thing sounds too much like starsailor or some other british semi alternative band."

> well actually that's not really negative for me :) !

Anyway, thank you for having listened and for your feedback !

I am glad you're pressed "ttt" button and came to the top again.
I liked your stuff. I did not hear it before.
I wouldn't go to the details. I wish you luck.
It is interesting issue about you not getting respond on French boards.
Just same happened to me on Yugoslav boards. Even my lyrics are not in English I never got respond there. So I gave up posting there.
This is right place to come man. Just keep posting.

I wonder if Rexet is your artist name or name of the band.
If it is, I don't think that's a god idea, man.
I don't how do you pronounce it in French but to me it sounds like well known Swedish band “Roxete”.

See you around
sikter

I have so far listened to 3 songs and they are all well written, performed and recorded. I do want to mention that one thing that really stood out for me is the bass playing. Like in "Pull The Trigger" where the guitar is just repeating the riff and the bass is what gives it the voicing; nicely done.

sikter > well, actually in France, french bands that sing in English are not very well perceived... but I don't care, I just love singing in English! BTW, is my nickname on Internet and I used it for my music but now I set up a band called "The Gostins" :) ! Thank a bil' for your encouragement :) !!!

digitcallous > great, that the first time someone notice my effort on writing bass part :) ! Many thanks for having listened and took the time to post a comment :) !

I'm happy to announce you that my band get its first live date in Paris :) !!!

Hey rexet, I'm at work but I'm going to have a listen to your stuff when I get home.

Looking through the list of bands you like I notice Aberfeldy on your list- excellent band!!! one of my favourites of the last year or so. I beleive there's a new album in the pipeline, I've seen them live a few times and heard some of the new songs and they sound really good.

Did you know their album was recorded live with just one mic? Pretty amazing, I love the sound of that album.

Pull the trigger could come from the newest Supergrass CD.
The only thing I don't like a whole lot is the distorted guitar. I reckon you could have dialed in a much better sound that'd give a better esult - as on ANY Supergrass LP.
The song & performance are great.
the upper register strains are very Jarvis Cocker as well. That gives it a extra taste for me.
Ash, Bjork, Blur, Elastica, Fountains of Wayne, Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz, I am Kloot, Interpol, Jet, Kings of Leon, Lightning Seeds, Oasis, Pixies, Placebo, Pulp, Radiohead, Sparklehorse, Suede, Supergrass, The Arcade Fire,The Boo Radleys, The Coral, The Cure, The High Llamas, The Hives, The Jam, The Magic Numbers, The Raveonettes, The Servant, The Smiths, The Vines, The White Stripes, The Zutons, Turin Brakes, Wilco, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, You Am I ALL get my vote too, esp the Aussies (I have ALL the bonus release versions of ALL You Am I)
Ah But I LOVE SLADE.

Rexet:

Very good, I only heard "pull the triger", good "humbucker" guitar sound (intro)
(could not be intentional, but remember kurt kobain´s guitars (much cleaner :) :) )
No technical comment about gear, cause i´m very far from my home studio and monitors...but it seems a "bright" mic (voice).that´s the akg414 (photo)?

That´s the beauty of thing...a french singing in (very good) english...another guy post a mp3 with "UK regaae" (mad mush). People tells different storyes... with good music in first place(that´s why we´re here,no?)
(I´ll post an instrumental "hybrid reagaee" mine too...

(my great-grandfather was french (moreau)

Unfortunately, I don´t speak any word :( :(

Really good stuff! 'Is it this' is right up my street.

A comment on the voice if I may- you (like a lot of people who learn english from other countries) sound a bit american, I guess from watching American films and TV shows as a part of learning the language. Nothing wrong with that of course but if you're going for a distinctly 'British' sound you might want to watch more Eastenders and less Friends. :D It's more noticeable on the heavier tracks when you're trying to 'emote' quite a lot.

Seriously though, really listen to the accents of the British singers you like.

A lot of English singers sound american when they sing which confuses things but people like Damon Albarn (London), Jarvis Cocker (Northern- Sheffield), Thom yorke (southern- home counties) all sound english when they sing all be it with their respective accents.

That's a minor detail though, the songs are great.

Hello guyz !!

Whaooo... what happen to this forum, I was not used to get so many feedback :) !!

Kevin DeSchwazi

Concerning my "american" accent... Actually that not a minor detail and you're the first to tell me that, that's really interesting since I never thought about that!!! Maybe because I spent 6 month in California... and also because of TV like you said :P ! I just love the british accent and especially the singer you mentionned: Jarvis, Damon & Thom are actually ones of my favourite singers (I saw all of them in concert) ! Are you sure we don't know each other :) ?

About Aberfeldy, I don't know where you live but in France this band is not famous at all and I never met someone who did know this! If you like it, go there :

http://prevot.denis.free.fr/

This is a tiny french radio with a lot of acoustic session. You will find one of Aberfeldy. Listen to HAL, this acoustic session is just amazing.

Thanks a lot for all your comments mate !!

rayc

What a great day about feedback! Actually I was the only one to think that "Pull the Trigger" sounds like a Supergrass song and I'm happy to see that you had this feeling to! Concerning the guitar, I had a lot of negative feedback about that and I quite agree since I used Guitar Rig because it was to tricky to record my real amp :( !

get2sammyb

Thanks a lot dude! That really touches me since vocals are really my weak point (still looking for a good teacher) !

CIRO

You're right concerning the "bright" mic... but it's the Studio Project C1 (I bought the 414 after having recording this song). For me the 414 sounds more dull, thud (not sure about these words since I used a FR/EN dictionary lol) and the C1 is really bright... even a little bit aggressive sometimes.

A bientôt CIRO et merci beaucoup ;) !

PS : thank you for all your message on my guestbook... it's even too much since people could believe I made some ads hahaha !! :D

What a cool link, I like loads of the stuff on that page- Low, Alasdair roberts, James Yorkston. I'm going to be downloading for a while. :D

Thanks!

Aberfeldy aren't big here in the UK but they have a small following.

Aberfeldy will release the second album the 3rd of july ;) ! (way more pop than folk compared to the first one)

Hi rexet...had a listen to 'Pull The Trigger' . Liked it very much so. Love the vocals very much so too.

..and 'Is It This'...Love the acoustic. Guitar could come up some though, to enjoy it's full effect. :D

I hear a McCartney flavoured oooooo oooo in there!! I also hear some French influence in your accent on this one! I love it!! It is ever so subtle. Enough to make me want more.

Kudos!!

True :) :) :) :)
