Hello guys,

I decided to share my music with you.

I (try to) write brit'pop songs and I recorded few songs with my small home studio.
I would be really glad to have your opinion since I'm sure it's not that comon to have a french guy trying to write brit'pop music !

Tell me what you honestly think about the one called 'Alright' (really poppy) or 'Pull the Trigger' (more rock) for instance:

Thx a lot mates

PS: I would really love to get some english message on my guest book to impress my french friends :) !

Hi

Very nice site. I like the song "Pull the trigger" a lot. It has good vocals and guitars. Just out of curiosity, why are you singing in English and not in French?

Thanks,

Jack Real.

Hey Jack,

Thanks a lot for having listened to my song :)
Well I sing in English for different reason :
- I love that
- I think words sound better in this language
- It is hard for me to write french lyrics (didn't mean that I'm good in english neither lol)
- I'm not really fond of french music
- All the music I listen to is in English (I love brit'pop)
- etc.

Actually I know that my accent is a problem and I'm sure that there's a lot of grammar mistakes in my lyrics... but anyway I just love that :) !

Thanks again mate !!

C'est Bon!

Your English is far better than my French. I listened to your most recent 3 songs. I like your voice. I liked your sounds. They seem really well mixed -- on my crappy pc speakers at work. And I'm sitting here in Britain :)

Thanks for sharing them

aspiring >> thanks a lot m8, that's really nice to read that native english speakers don't think that my music is that bad :p

I really like the "Pull the trigger" song. Did you play/program all the instruments? I'm curious 'coz the drums and the piano and the guitars sound really nice. And I'm alway up for finding out how to better my drums. I use software synthesizers.

Anyway, back to the topic - the songs sound good and english sounds just fine. Actually even native english speaker sometimes break grammar rules if the the song sounds better with certain words. And there's so many international stars that do that. I know Roxette used to do that a lot. :) It's all cool!

The accent sounds just fine to me. :)

Overall, doing superb. :)

this rocks, if i didnt know i would presume you were english. And i like the overall song (listening to pull the trigger now) :)

I love this forum :D !

More seriously:

bigbubba > All instruments are VSTi except guitars... and vocals of course (would be a really bad VSTi :D ). Concerning drums I tried many VSTis and as it is the case for you, I'm never really satisfied with virtual drums. On "Pull the trigger" and "Alright" it is quite ok, and I used BFD on both of them. If it can help you considering buying a virtual drummer ;) !
Thank a lot for having listened to my music! That really touches me you think my english is not that bad cause I had many critizise by french people who don't understand that I prefer singing in this language  ! Thanks a lot dude !

guitarboi89 > Thank you sir :p !!

Hey guyz, don't hesitate to post a message on my guestbook, then I could show off with my french friends :D

I just thought you might like to know. After mixing the PMC12 song all day I found myself humming.....

"hold the gun.....
ta ta ra ta da ta da
pull the trigger when you're done...."

Does it mean that you own me some royalties :D ?

Do you have a paypal account :D ?

:p ;)

nice recording setup you have there.... anything else on your to-buy list? :)

would love to see how your studio looks like...

Love the songs by the way.... good job!

Well, Pulp are one of my favourite bands, and they're from just down the road from me here .... I love that Pull The Trigger song, and think you sound just like Jarvis Cocker. The distorted guitars further into the song are definitely Radiohead all over.

You have awesome taste in music ... it's not very fashionable to like Embrace, Oasis, Travis, Starsailor, bands like that. I get accused of listening to rubbish music all the time. I'm also very impressed that you like Rufus Wainwright ... could you translate that bit from 'Rebel Prince' where he sings in French for me???

It's so cool that you have a Lag acoustic, too. I'm just bringing in the Chinese-made Lag electrics and acoustics into my shop at the moment, and they are all very cool, so the French ones must really fly! :)

Very good stuff.

Your English is fine. English is not my native language - American is mine and I can barly speak it. :D

i love english vocals with a heavy accent, i constantly work with people that try to sing in english, some of them sound like POO and others, like you sound really nice, i'd stick to the english cause i think its more flattering than french (no offence of course)

the drums have a nice warm sound, i really like the clean guitar parts, nice simple melody and good sound , and the vocals, good, don't change them

i wish the latest band i recorded sounded this good !!!

oui, c'est une trés belle chanson :)

I listened to Pull the Trigger. Wow, well done in every aspect. Really great vocals. The opening two-guitar section is brilliant... the right gtr sounds a little odd and detuned when it starts. Then the left gtr comes in with its "John Lennon on the Gibson Hummingbird" sounding rhythm and the two gtrs balance each other perfectly in sonority and character.

The alternation in the arrangement between the clean and distorted gtr sections give the song the feel of a lot of variety in the dynamics. There are a few spots where the heavy gtr and vocal move to a crescendo, but there wasn't room in the level for it and it gets squashed sounding... might be worth it to adjust relative levels overall to leave some room for those spots to build. There's also a bit of vocal sibilance here and there.

The ending sounds good coming back to the opening motif but I think it'd be more effective to have the rhythm gtr also going right to the end to take advantage of the great sound between those two parts while still lowering the intensity level for the close.

…going right now to listen to some of your other tunes.

Tim

So Bigbubba, let me get this straight. You get offended by something as beautiful and natural as "tits", but you have no problem humming: "hold the gun.....ta ta ra ta da ta da pull the trigger when you're done...."???? man, God sure has changed his priorities in the last 2000 years. I didn't know a pair of tits could kill someone...hehe :D

Hehe, it's not God that has changed. Like I said in the other thread, slowly we accept smaller things and then bigger things and then at one point certain things become just another normal occurrence.

I don't get offended by t*ts, but I'd rather not think of a big breasted women in a bar and a bunch of bubbas chugging down beer when I'm singing,performing,listening_to,playing a hymn. I do get offended at pornographic nudity, but I think that's different. Well endowed women are....well.... beautiful mostly.

So to be absolutely clear: I never get offended just looking at a beautiful woman. :p
