Get The King of the Blues. It's a 2 CD set with some outtake type stuff and some unreleased material. Everything you need to get aquainted with this great player. He does a great Hoochie Coochie Man and San-Ho-Zay is just a classic.

Freddie is a great lesson in what notes to play and what notes not to play. He had the coolest slightly nasal tone, which I believe came partially from that old gold-top with P-90's. Some of the newer stuff he cut for Leon Russell's label (Shelter) was to my ears a bit less inspired, but any of his stuff is worth a listen. And it's also interesting to hear interpretations of his instrumentals by other players (Peter Green and Ronnie Earl come to mind).

Thanks Guys, I recently got a compilation 2 CD set and "Tore Down" was one of them, love it, I have already put in an order with the local shop.

Down here in Texas, you can't play a Blues gig without knowing how to play "Hide Away."

You need two CDs to get started. First, find a best of Freddy King, with Hideaway, Tore Down, San Hozay and Have You Ever Loved A Woman. Next, get Freddy King "The Best Of The Shelter Years" with Big legged Woman, Goin' Down and Living On The Highway Now, etc.
