Hello,
I recently purchased a Tascam 414MKII four track to get me started in the world of recording. However, there is a problem...
If anybody is familiar with this model, I have followed the instructions to do a simple recording but when i speak the mic, i can hear myself in the headphones but the meter doesn't light up to show any level.
Is this a common problem?
Help me! -

make sure the fader is up all the way, make sure the trim is up generously, have the switch be on mic/line, make sure the master knob is up, then SCREAM into the mic. I remember the first mic I used on my now broken 4 track I bought new for 1.99. It SUCKED, barely gave any output at all. perhaps you aren't talking loud enough into the mic, and it just isn't registering much.

What steps did you go through? I had a 414 before I got my 388, so I might be able to tell you what (if anything) you're doing wrong.

I was only using track one. The trim was up because i was plugging the mic staright in. The small switch that says /guitar/tape/micline/ was on micline. The switch above that was on L. The panning knob was on l. And everything else was as it should when carrying out that sort of operation. The meter is the only thing not working. I hope i'm being specific enough...
Probably not...
Cheers Anyway

Ah, seems it was.

Do you still have the receipt? And the warranty?
