Just thought I'd say hi. I've been watching Tascam's 788 site for about 8 months and it does drag.

I'm pleased to see another location for those of us bound by our decision.

I'm also quite pleased with my 788. With it's accompanying burner, I've had an immediate success realizing my lifelong dream of a home recording studio.

Nice to see other 788 users here.

A Pennsylvania guy!! Wahooooo! Good to have you. Stuck in Virginia now, but miss the mountains of PA. I just joined this site too, after looking at it for a while. Lot of fun stuff going on in here.
Sorry, but I'm a 488'er, but to each his own...after reading some 788 tips and info...I may convert.

Arranger,

Welcome! Yes it's a great bbs with plenty of other recording subjects to mull over. I've gotten more of an education in a month here than a year at Tascam's forum. They are still good for 788 glitches though.

Any mp3's done on the 788?

Arranger,

Glad you found it! It's great to have a place to hear other peoples 788 music. Can wait to hear yours! Check out the other 788 music, there's some good tunes being recorded with this thing. (788)

peace.

See, and I was just thinking our alternate site here was dwindling away. definatley check out the other forums here. There's a lot of fun stuff that get's way off topic. And, post your work to an mps site when you're ready and let us now, it's good to hear what other people are accomplishing.

Thanks for the welcome.

The more critics the better!

I've not had the pleasure of converting any of my work to MP3. I'm convinced that once I do, my talent will be plagerized and I'll never have a chance at stardom!

All kidding aside, I suppose I'd need to learn how to MAKE and MP3 first. I don't have enough time to learn the ins and outs of my 788, let alone file transfers.

Thanks for the requests, though. Maybe I'll investigate it.

P.S. Hey, B.Sabbath, I checked out your Mp3 posts at your link. Too cool.
I heard "Cruise" and "Busiest Graveyard." I'd really like to learn how to get my stuff on there. Can I just play a disc into my computer and convert it somehow? Thanks for the listening pleasure.

There is some free software on the internet. I use CDEX and it works fine. All you do is put your cd in your cd-rom drive, open CDEX, and choose "COnvert CD to MPEG"...it's that easy. Then find a host site like Mp3.com or Garageband.com.

Aranger,

Thanks for takin' the time to check out the tunes. Yeah I basically just burned a disc, popped it into my computer, pressed record on Music Match, and sent it on its way. M.M. seems to be easy to use and it was free. The 788 is pretty easy to use too once you get the hang of it. Good luck Bro!

peace.
