I don't EQ my amp like that (although I remember reading some BS along those lines). I did play around with the GT-6 before my pre-amp for a while, and decided I get a better sound after the pre and I can use the volume as a master volume. Othere things I did was decide for the most part to use distortion from my boogie, which does really well with overdrive. Also, I set some of my main programs where the CTL button on the right turns on and off the wah wah. Otherwise, going to wah, you have to turn the pedal volume all the way up to push that button.
The GT-6 is versatile and due to it's EQ and pre-amp section, you can add great sound or over process quickly. So I also have most effects and EQ not at 100%.
I also live by the noise supressor, always left on.
Play with the GT-6, it is a great tool for sound, just don't let it own you.
