hi, sorry, thought this would get your attention,

I have about 15 pedals, im a HUGE fan tone, so I try to eliminate what I can if i can,

I dont like the idea of having 15 pedals, but cant live without them, so what are mt options???

with the boss LS line selector, could I take some out off my pedal board with the stomp of a button, there for not wrecking my tone so much???

what other options do I have,

is there anyway I can use a noisegate and tuner that are always on and put them somewere were they wont affect tone so much??? rack maybe????

Throw the pedals out the window and get the tone from your fingers and your amp..........!
 
Recipe for Tone.....

Maple neck with birdseye maple fingerboard.
Solid body, alder for me over ash.
single coil neck pickup
humbucker at the bridge.
 
Forget the pedals . . . forget the tones . . .

You need to get yourself a new dog, or a new wife. :D
 
I had the 15 pedal disease too, until I bought my Line6 Flextone. Great amp & now only one pedal that connects to the amp with a cat5-no batteries or wall wart. Best thing I ever did guitar-wise.

On a serious note (he he) if the pedals all have decent buffers in 'em your biggest enemy is gonna be noise. Run your dynamic processors at the front of the chain and your time domain processors at the end. A good noise gate can help but I've managed to live without one through careful placement, proper gain structure and active pickups.

As an example here's the signal path for my live rig:

Guit>Wah>Phaser>Dist>preamp>flanger>chorus>delay>power amp.

All my pedals are analog.;)

15 pedals? That ought to sound about like a three-phase electrical transfomer humming on tape.

I used to use only one pedal when recording. I can't remember the brand but I think it was a Boss Overdrive OD-1 or 2.
 
I have been interested in the loooper. It is custom made at a reasonable price by a guy who posts alot on the harmony central boards. There is great feedback and reviews of them.

I don't use alot of pedals at any one time (Big Muff, Maxon OD, Tsunami Chorus, Alesis Quadraverb), but the muff and alesis can get pretty noisy. I was thinking about using a looper for them, bypassing them completely when not in use.

With 15 pedals, I am hoping you only use a few at a time.

I have to agree with the Guitar, amp and GT-6. I used to use many different pedals, rack effects, etc, and now am down to nothing but the guitars into my amp's pre, line out to my GT-6, back into the amp's power amp.

It makes me worry more about what I'm doing instead of which buttons I'm hitting....
 
oh sorry Tremendo has got one too...hey Tremendo, does your GT-6 sound the same thru your headphones as thru your amp??
if you know what i mean :eek: ...mine sounds beautiful thru headphones, but when I plug it into the amp it sounds different (worse)...I followed the instructions in the manual (how to set the lows, highs, mids, etc...on the amp) but it still sucks...have you had similar issues???

My Gt-6 sounds different through the headphones or line out and amp, even though I switch the output select accordingly. Normally, as I mentioned, I go through my Mesa Boogie Mark III's preamp, before the the GT-6, then back to the Boogie. I have done some recording directly; guitar to GT-6 to recorder (via digital outputs); and I think it's come out pretty good. There is a 20 second guitar lead at the start of my site that was recorded that way, if you'd like to hear (www.tommatz.com).
 
yeah man...why does it have to sound that different (worse) on the line out???:mad: :mad:
When I slap the cans on....wooaahh..it's perfect..eventhough line out sound is excellent comparing to some others I've heard, I still dig the cans man:D
But with you and your Mesa. I guess it would sound very decent...I've only got a small Fender amp....
haven't tried the digital, havent got the input on the card...

Play around with it. It sounds different, but it should still sound good through your Fender. For killer heavy tunes through your amp, try to adjust (or get rid of) the GT-6 EQ and pre-amp, lower the distortion (overdrive) and chorus, set the compression where you like it, and make sure you adjust the "output select" to combo amp or small amp.

When I went to this set up, I had to create my own sounds with the GT-6. But now I have something that works well for me.

yeah I do exactly that, set it to appropriate output and everything....and did you notice how the GT-6 manual says that you should turn your highs and lows on your amp to zero, and have mids on 10!!!???? I reckon that's a load of crap....or maybe..not:confused: !??
 
I bought a GP-16 to replace my analog pedal setup and after about 6 months of trying every configuration possible I finally realized the only way to make it sound right was to completely remove it from the signal path.

;)
