Fostex X-28h Any Good

It's a 4 track to tape and i can get it very cheap, wondering if it's any good, will be using it for guitar, keyboard and vocals.

ANy other options i can take for recording, mainly guitars

sure . why not ?
if you can get a second one cheap for 60 bucks then you can bounce between them. and get lots of tracks.
but maybe for the future you might consider a pc. i can do easy 48 tracks on my pc or more.

Sorry, I wasn't too clear with that post. Not enough sleep and too much of something else! I've had both machines, and I still have the mp01. I like the sound of the mp01 more because it's warmer. They will both give you what you want, but I think the mp01 is also a little easier to use.

AS a tool to get down song ideas and throw some rough demos together, sure it's good... just don't expect to produce anything that sounds like a Daniel Lanois production!

This is a good machine. it's fun and easy to use. Just make sure you have the correct adapter. I understand that they are hard to find.

Two interesting observations about this. The guy that asked the original question never posted again after the 10th November 2004. At that point, my wife and I were waiting for the birth of our second child. He'll be 7 in a couple of months !
