Ok. So I bought this Fostex x-26 off of ebay supercheap ($16 bucks) and Man, I tell you what....Fostex sure didn't make their manual for this thing user friendly. I couldn't imagine being a 15 yr old kid back in '85 (or whenever this machine was made) and getting this 4 track for christmas and trying to record a simple tune on it. It seems as if the knobs have 2-3 different functions according to what other switches or buttons are pushed. Actually some of the knobs are in the center position and you turn it to the left: it's an input level, turn it to the right: it's a volume ...WTF?????? I'm used to the Tascam machines that are so easy to operate. I feel stupid with this thing...It's so small, barely has any knobs and here I am perplexed and scratching my head. I was curious about this machine in the first place because I've heard sooo many people say they've made some badass sounding recordings using it, it was their first 4 track, it sounds amazing, blah, blah, blah I've even heard clips myself of recordings people have done using the machine from back and I was really impressed.
I was wondering if anyone could shed some light here? Thanks,
A-Dunce
