Fostex Proprietary Format read on a PC?

Does anyone know of a way to read the Fostex FD-4 file format on a Windows based PC? I'm recording on a computer DAW and don't have the FD-4 in the studio right now to convert it over. It would be fantastic if the disk can be read onto the PC and the files converted over to WAV or SDII on the PC without having to have the FD-4 around. Anyone with any ideas? TIA, RTYBassist

Nope. The fostex files cannot be read by anything other than the FD-4. You can use the optical output to send to the PC into a software studio (Cakewalk, Magix, etc...)to record what you have, then it is converted to a PC format or import the sound via a sound card.
I have an FD-4 but wound up buying the VF-16 because it is more versitile in that it can export as a wav file and can import wav files.

Thanks for the info Bruce. That's what I thought. I had to ask though. I wish it was possible. I get Jaz disks from a singer/song writer in Texas from his FD-4 that I need to get over to my computer based DAW and was hoping I could without having to buy an FD-4 myself. Thanks again.
