hey i use a fostex mr8 and i am looking to get a pre amp...what are most of you users using on yours? i am looking to get one probably in the 100 price range but if something is worth a little more id go for it...i am mostly doing home recordings for myself and helping out some of my friends bands with demos...if you could help in recommending something that would be greatly appreciated..later

options

well, you have a lot of options in this.....

1st) you can use a mixing board. This offers you more channel inputs, eq, fx, phantom, and some signal routing capabilities. A lot of people use one of the smaller behringer or yamaha or spirit boards to do this.

2nd) you can use what they call a "channel strip". This is basically a mic preamp, usually with a compressor added in (and usually some sort of para eq).
There are many of these, behri has an older one that some use vx2000, or the new digital version there of, the focusrite voice pro (what behri copied),and there are many of these. just look at www.musicansfriend.com

3rd, you can look into a preamp. RNP, dmp3 (i think) are highly recommended among others.

do some lookin' and get an idea which way ya' want to go and ask about some of those specific unit capabilities

good luck!
