For vocals, what the best mic and pre mic-amp. ?

You are buyng the 149 just because it`s a Neumann???:eek:

At least try it f and compare it with some other mics first...

Personally, I`d rather get a AT-4060.....
 
Wayne, every time I pass a pawn shop in this town, I stop, hoping for just that kind of deal. I've never even seen a condensor in a pawn shop in KC. Next time you pass on that kind of deal, call me.
 
Not to be negative.... But if your still at the "What's the best mic?" stage of your game, I don't think you should spend $5K on a mic... you have not got enough experience to pick one... Buy a bunch of mics for a few hundred each, or even 5 mics for 1000 each, and you'll get much better results than having 1 ultra-expensive mic that you probably don't know how, and don't have the right equipment to make it sound like the $$$ you spent on it.

Shit, if you're spending $5K on it, make a trip to a high-end pro audio dealer. Drive out to freakin' Boston and visit with Mercenary . . . just go to where you can audition these suckers and just get the one you fall in love with.

Don't keep asking a bunch of schleps on an internet chat board.

Go to a local high end studio that might have the pre and mics you are checking out...book some time and check out their lockers..Good luck
