I wanted to post this as a separate thread so you guys won't think I was still having problems with this mic project. I finished it and wanted to thank Marik and paddyponchero for all their assistance. These guys and those like them are the diamonds in this website's crown!

This project is officially a success as far as I'm concerned. The mic is complete and fully functional, so I've dubbed it the "Fony C-37A" since it's a clone of the Sony. (with some obvious modifications) Those who haven't followed, it started as a bid for a mic on ebay and slowly took on a life of it's own when I decided to attempt to build the whole thing myself.

This thing is extremely smooth and silky with great bottom end. It's the best mic I own now, hands down, though I don't have the most impressive mic collection. (It's actually somewhat meager) That's why I wanted to build this and see if I could get a "pro" product on a budget. Success!!

Thanks again guys! If you're ever in L.A., pints are on me!!

That's totally cool! - congratulations. I saw the thread and scanned through it a bit earlier today. You're a brave soul. It's great to hear that you got the mic up and running.
Incidentally, Marik is in L.A. right now, so you may need to make good on that pint. If he's still around tomorrow, I'm down too. Are you in Westside? Mark's staying in Venice off of Rose and I'm a couple miles south in the Four Corners neighborhood.

I'd love to make good on that pint!! (and however many follow) I live in Redondo Beach, but I'll be up in Santa Monica tomorrow. If you want to P.M. me, I'd love to hook up! I'll give you my cell phone number.

Playing golf on saturday, though!

Plenty of beer between SM and South Bay.
Saturday: Waves at Hags or RAT followed by Wayne Shorter up at UCLA. Totally looking forward to that. Are you one of those dudes that show up at the course before sunrise? I have a friend in Torrance who does that.

Oh, hell no!! Crack of noon, maybe a little earlier...

I'm delighted it worked out, have 1 1/5 pints for me (otherwise known as a 'proper' pint)

I've just finished 9 proper pints and been to two album launches and am well and truly ready for bed zZzZZ

If you like golf, check out our local course:

The fishings pretty good too ;)

That is just Un-be-frickin'-lievable!!! I'd have to bring about 3 dozen balls for how many I'd lose in the Atlantic. I HAVE to visit Ireland before I die!

I'm playing Pebble Beach for my 40th. That gives me a year to break 80.

Woo-hoo!
