when i turn up my volume on my monitors it makes the left monitor crackle. the one that crackles is connected to the main monitor via a mini jack to jack. i suspect it may be this as it stopped it for awhile when i swapped it around once)

?

I'm not sure what set-up you have, nor the exact nature of the symptoms.

It sounds like you have a pair of fairly typical PC speakers, i.e. one (e.g. the right) has a built in amp (which is where you control volume), and the left plugs into this. Is that right? If not, we need a more detailed description.

Does the crackling occur when you adjust the volume, or when the overall level is high?

If it occurs when you adjust the volume, then there are two options:
a) get some spary stuff into the control somehow, or
b) leave the volem set at a particular lvel.

If the crackling occurs when playing stuff at high levels, it is possible you are overloading the speaker. The simple solution: turn it down. Another simple solution: get new monitors.

they are cheap alesis usb m1 320 monitors. yes the right speaker has the amp and main i/os it does it at any volume i have it around. pretty annoying as only had them a few weeks. its the left speaker and not them main speaker that has the noise which is a bit strange
