Hey guys, I have a potential fix to this issue.
I was sold an IO26 on craigslist a few years ago and it never worked. I searched for help everywhere on forums about how I could get power, but no interface signal.
Well, this might sound stupid, but, get a new cable.
Turns out, on those old firewire cables, the power wire is nice and thick, but the interface wire is really delicate and shorts easily, sometimes just develops a resistance. That's why sometimes you plug it in and it works, and sometimes it doesn't, and then eventually it stops working altogether.
I've been told this will happen to every firewire cable, even with the most careful use.
Well, I'm happy because I got this unit for 50 bucks, and the dude probably thought he was ripping me off
Bought a new cable for 3 dollars on ebay, and this thing is working good as ever.
