One of my keys stopped working on a korg n364. Aftertouch still works. Anybody ever fixed a busted key before? I'd like to handle this myself if possible.
I have a Korg X3, which is remarkably similar in construction to the N364. I have had that exact problem before, where the aftertouch still works, but no sound and no MIDI transmission. If you remove the back of the keyboard and disconnect all ribbon and miscellaneous cables connecting to the circuit board below the keys (be sure to remember where they go!), you can remove the board. It's about the length of the entire key area, and maybe 2 or 3 inches wide. On the other side are the key contact points, which are triggered by the plastic projections on the bottom of the keys. When I took mine off, there was a very small amount of dirt on one of these contacts, and that was enough to prevent the key from sounding, but not enough to keep the aftertouch from working. I cleaned mine with rubbing alcohol, but I'm sure water will do just fine.
